I mostly use http://scrapetorrent.com/.

It indexes most of the big bittorrent sites.

Depends on what you’re looking for. The site you download torrents from has nothing to do with the application you use.

With that said, btjunkie.org is great if you know what you want. You can search every major tracker through btjunkie.

R.I.P. waffles.fm

so any of these websites, are they safe, i wont get a file thats totally different then wha tthe name is?

You can’t be sure of anything. Read the comments of the torrent to make sure it is clean and what you want.

also its weird, how can u tell if the quality is good on piratebay.org and if its a file playable for the iphone or the mac, because right when im about to get it through transmission it doesnt show mp4 but it shows a weird paper picture, like a text file instead

99% of the videos you download from a torrent will be in avi so that you can burn them to dvd and play right away. In order to play it on an iPod or iPhone you must convert it to mp4. Download a video converter and use that to change the format.

btjunkie.org is great.. I also like torrents.to, it’s a search engine that handily lets you search multiple torrent sites. It’s got what I consider to be the biggest/most used torrent sites. It’s handy because sometimes one site won’t have what you’re looking for and it lets you pretty quickly switch between various sites using the same search terms.

Torrentz searches all the major ones.

whats an rar file?

jlm11f's avatar

it’s a compressed version of file(s). you need to right click on it and choose “extract” to get all the files in it. You might need WinRar to extract if your computer doesn’t have the capabilities already.

filemp3.org and filelist.org I think neither have spots open so you gotta wait. Also, if you’re serious about downloading stuff I’d suggest you look into PeerGuardian. It’s not foolproof, but it’s better than nothing.

www.btjunkie.org is my favorite, very reliable.

afghanmoose's avatar

after getting everything and downloading all the bit torrents,if its an avi file then how the hell do i convert it so i can use it on my iphone,i have a mac and am trying to find a decent program

MrMontpetit's avatar

Try the site www.dvdvideosoft.com. A lot of good programs (free) for converting.

afghanmoose's avatar

i mean when u get a video from the bit torrent site and its finished downloading, how do u convert it when its an avi or too big to put on ur ipod

afghanmoose's avatar

mrmontpetit thanks for the link,problem is i have a mac,not a pc

MrMontpetit's avatar

That’s how. When it’s an avi, you can use one of the programs from that site to convert it to an MP4. I believe there’s also a function on iTunes that lets you do that, but I’m not 100% sure.

afghanmoose's avatar

i cant ad an avi to itunes, that site only supports pc programs, not mac, unless u have a link to a program from that site that is a converter for mac OS

tWrex's avatar

$24 bucks will get you where you want to go.
or you can use ffmpeg with the ffmpeg guide

MrMontpetit's avatar

Why not click the link and find out?

afghanmoose's avatar

im using isquit right now,and now its working, but i still dont trust it,it sometimes freezes,it could be due to the file im trying to convert, what do u guys think

I’m all about helping people out, but you are lazy as all get out. Dude (or dudette) we give you links so you can check them out. We’ve all gone and done the legwork for you. All you have to do is read. I even gave you a link to a guide exactly for what you’re doing. I’m done following this question because I am not going to help someone who doesn’t listen to answers that are valuable. Everyone in this thread has given you sites and advice on how to use the things you want to use. Either read what it says or stop asking questions. I mean, do you want someone to take over your computer and do it for you at this point?

afghanmoose's avatar

well twrex i actually did figure it out,its jsut that isquint messes up on some of the files i try and convert, but thanks for everything and same for all the people that helped on this thread

I can’t believe nobody mentioned Speckly. Instead of searching only through individual sites, Speckly searches through PirateBay, isoHunt, SUMOTorrent, Monova, NewTorrent, Vuze, Mininova, Torrentreactor, BTJunkie and LegitTorrents at the same time.

Really saves me a lot of time! Try it out!
