I'm probably in the running for youngest at 17.
OK, I'll tell all: I'm 57.
gailcalled will probably grab the oldest award, she likes that title :D
I want everyone to answer so I can get more accurate results. So if you can, I'd appreciate it. Thanks :)
bybvibe i think we are both tied at 17
I'm not sure what the average age is. Thinking about it, I'd actually say that I believe fluther is very diverse agewise.
38 today is my birthday. I guess this puts me right in the middle
Ok so far 17-youngest
57-oldest
30's/40's mid
@gooch- happy birthday
@bybvibe93: mine is 05/01/1990
I'm 16. Does that mean I steal the 'youngest' title?
Chronologically 43, mentally?!?
I was born on Dec.31, 1936....so 70.5. I feel fine about this as Perchik mentioned...not that there's anything I can change about it.
Cool. . . gailcalled was around for WWII. Now THERE is somebody qualified to critique politics. So, gail, what were the 60's like for you?
I was married at the end of my jr. year in college (1957) and by 1965 had two kids. Life was still Leave it to Beaver then. In about '66, 67 ?, Free Speech Movement and its trappings swept across the country from Berkeley. By then I was in Manhattan and on the liberal fringes; took my kids in a stroller and by the hand to protest rallies and marches in Central Park but was basically too busy being an upper East Side Matron. I did shorten all my clothes up to what my grandmother called "my pupik!." My sister, 9 years younger, was much more involved.
If you went to an evening movie, you could smell the pot wafting everywhere. Strangers would pass you joints (the old, little ones.)
Wait for the book.
psst, they're called roaches (the old, little ones.)
Hmm, I thought those were the disgusting things that came into my kitchen via having groceries delivered in boxes from the fancy upper East side supermarkets. Live and learn :-)
I think, actually, frydeyes is older than gailcalled. She's andrew's grandmother & she's 80-something.
I've never seen her on flutter before, but then again I'm a fairly new member
@maggiesmom; Tell frydeyes we'd love to hear her take on things. I wish that I could persuade my mother to try to learn..but no luck.
I'm 13 and I'm Dutch :-)
I can proof it! :-)
Wow, I guess we have a new youngest
Hmmm, on a site like this, how would you prove your age? More importantly, how would you prove you are Dutch?
Check out http://www.daveyyzermans.nl/ He/she speaks Dutch and has a Netherlands address; but perhaps he/she is 90 yrs old and just toying w. us :-)
i guess you can never know for sure..
I will update my avatar with a picture to proof it.
I believe Jess was on the fluther site once in the beginning, and he just turned 99 last September. The question he asked was: where do I live? Since he wasn’t given much of an answer, I don’t know if he returned. He’s a fantastic man, a former doctor involved in setting up public health systems in Israel and Washington State. He still spends hours a day downloading things from the internet.
i’m 27 years old. i live in portland, oregon, and i think gailcalled is the smartest flutherite. :)
@sam: one of the benefits of having lived for a while, at least if you are me (I?), is that you have a chance to learn gillions of interesting things and then forget about half of them. Happy to be this site’s guru – or at least for some of you. (Do you know David Finkel, who is also living in Portland and fishing for HUGE salmon most of the time, as far as I can tell?)
I’m 46.
And Klas4 don’t think of yourself as ugly, haven’t you ever read the story ugly duckling.
I’m probably the youngest by now at age 13. :)
