johnpowell’s story
If you are wondering why the right side of my neck is all fuckered. That is 400K worth of radiation killing cancer and killing the muscles in my neck at the same time. So half my face is all “droopy” now. But at least I am not coughing up spoonfuls of blood anymore.

Here’s another tip that I hope you won’t need. Chemo done so frequently in such a high stress circumstance (along with radiation) could likely cause some really annoying chemo-brain, which will screw with your memory. You probably have a voice record feature on your phone, I recommend it for things you think of that you might want to remember, whether a list or someth8ng. You might not remember it long enough to write down.
And a bit later, when you can concentrate, logic and crossword puzzles and stuff like that really helped me get a bunch of cognitive function back.
Good luck, glad you’re through the first (and hopefully the worst!) stage.

Going to your sister’s place is a great idea. Chemo kicks the shit out of people.
I hate to sound like an old lady but while you can, you need to exercise and get a little in shape. Anytihg you do is good. Walking. Walking at a quick pace… running. Any fucking thing. Even doing garden work around your sister’s house. Move your bones and muscles.
Play Rocky’s theme and figure you are in training for a fight.
As you know, I know a lot of guys going through (or have finished) chemo. They are beat! Exercise now! Anything you do now will help. Really!
Even do kegels while sitting at the computer. You don’t want to add incontinence to the shit sandwich you’ve just been served.
Ok…. I’ll get off my soapbox.
Oh man…. That is a bitch. Oh man….
Stay in touch.
