What is it like at the shopping mall (a) on Hallowe'en and (b) the day after?

[Fiction question]

I don’t know if I can force myself to go and see for myself. I’m sure some flutherfolk can describe it for me.

I’m especially interested in three things about Hallowe’en at an American shopping mall:

•   Is it heavily decorated? and just in the stores, or generally?
•   Is there much of a teenage presence, and if so, what’s it like?
•   Do you see many adults in costume?

As for the day after, is it like the mess at the end of a party, or are all the decorations still up, or have all traces vanished? These holidays tend to go stale the instant they’re over, just like Cinderella’s coach and gown, and then it’s on to the next thing. How is it with this particular event at the mall?

At the Halloween Event on Halloween night, the mall is packed with costumed people of all ages, wall to wall, elbow to elbow. There is a huge line that circles the entire building of people going store to store for the treats. At the end of the mall is a gigantic stage, where competitions are held through out the party, between 5 pm and 10 pm.

The next day, all is quiet and clean, and the decorations that were for sale are 70% off. The decorations that were on display have been replaced with Thanksgiving or Christmas displays.

People work all night to get it right, at overtime pay, which will be double time pay this year because it will be Sunday night. My Grandson has been lucky enough to get a holiday job at the mall this year.

Except for the line of people circling the building, @YARNLADY ‘s description is exactly like the mall where I used to work. Some of the store employees dress up, some don’t.

You can take your kid trick or treating there. Go store to store with treats. After halloween score on tons of stuff half off. Our mall has a small train the kids ride. They decorate it spooky. It’s a good fun.
