San Francisco driving: What's the fastest route from the Golden Gate Bridge to Mission and 20th?

Are common sense, habit, and Google maps correct in saying Lombard to Van Ness / South Van Ness? Or is there a sneaky faster way that doesn’t poke along Lombard and Van Ness?
I go on Sunday mornings, a low traffic time, and Thursday evenings, which can be traffic-y.

Lombard to Gough – go right. Don’t take Van Ness; always take Gough as the lights are timed. Gough to Fell – go right. Fell to Laguna – go left. Cross over Market onto Guerrero. Guerrero to 20th – go left. 20th to Mission.
I agree with avoiding Van Ness. That street can be such a huge pain in the ass if you’re trying to drive the length of it, due to the lights.
@Megan64‘s got it right. I was going to suggest Divisadero to Castro to 17th, but taking Gough is probably a lot easier.
I had this idea too, since I much prefer taking Franklin going the other way for the same reason. But when I started on Gough once at Lombard it was several blocks of stop signs and a backlog of single-file cars, so I jogged back over to Lombard. So do I just need to stick it out until it gets to timed lights? And it’ll be worth it?
Also, any alternative to Lombard? A parallel street that’s faster?
Thanks, all.
Gough gets pretty quick (comparatively) once you get past Vallejo street. And Marian Blvd to Bay St. to Gough is an alternative, but not necessarily quicker on a Sunday morning.
You could take Park Presidio to Geary to Divisadero or Gough, but I don’t think that’s quicker.
I used to commute during rush hour taking the Gough route, and it’s the quickest way to get across town. The time used at the stop signs is more than made up for later.
