What is your favorite instrument to goof around with?
I play the blues harp (harmonica), but I’ve seen people play the spoons, bongos, tambourine, cowbell, ect. As a general question, which instrument do you have the most fun with?

my voice… I sing all the time.
Guitar and the Kazoo. Guitar especially electric guitar is a riot to mess with and I keep a kazoo here at work just to let people know I am hard at work!
A kazoo? Haha, I’ve never actually used one. (insert joke about living under a rock here)
Drums, because I like to bang.
I can play the hell out of the guitar, but I also have a ton of fun playing the bass.
@erichw1504 My father plays the drums, he’s great….always tapping on something….
The piano I seem to have a natural knack for. I like the accordian best though.
I collect ethnic hand drums. Love my Djembe!
One of my favorite things to put on some music and have a couple o’ beers and play my drum out on the deck in the evenings.
It is really cool sometimes the ‘mysterious sax player’ out in the forest will start playing too…totally anonymous to each other but we definitely conspire on our wilderness duets. I love it when he/she chimes in to the sounds of my drum!
I’ve just been learning to play the blues harp, too. It’s really interesting, and fun because people say they like what I’m doing. I just started playing this summer, and I’ve not really been playing much at all, except occasionally at Friday night gigs.
It’s also fun to mess with the Hang (pronounced Hahng). I don’t know exactly what “goofing” around means in this context, so I’m leaving out the instruments I actually know how to play.
Drums. Banging on stuff is fun.
When I was a kid, I told my dad I was interested in learning to play drums. Ever the pessimist, his reply was “I don’t know man…it’s pretty hard to keep rhythm”. Way to go with the encouragement, dad.
@wundayatta eh, it doesn’t matter if you know how or not. I actually knnow how to play the harp. Ninth grade math teacher taught me. Made me a “blues sister”
Can’t read a note, but I have a good ear and Iove to tease out tunes and chords on a piano or symthezier. Always have.
@Coloma: That’s really cool about the mysterious sax player hehe
I am quite the air guitarist. Riffing out to the greatest rock anthems.
@Coloma When we used to take a summer vacation on a lake, I would, occasionally, sit on the dock as the evening fell over the mirror-flat water playing my flugelhorn. One summer there was a sax player around the bend who started playing, and for a few moments we were trading lines. I never found out who that person was. Kind of a zipless jam, if you know what I mean ;-)
I bought a harmonica on a whim but I’m having a heck of a job trying to learn how to play the darn thing. I can noodle about on a guitar, but not well enough to take it out in public.
@Foolaholic BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTTTTTTT!
My favourite instrument is the piano. I love attempting to play like the great Les Dawson… playing The Entertainer who was so skillful at playing the piano and purposely hitting the wrong notes. He is hilarious!
I like to bash the hell out of pots & pans with a wooden spoon! Whaddya mean uncultured oaf? Why i’ll have you know folks come from miles around to hear my utensil concerto!! :¬)
The triangle,you’d be surprised how much fun can you get from that little almost not an instrument thing
The bari sax I can’t play it if my life depended on it, but I love the sound it makes.
I will noodle around on the piano, bass, guitar and harmonica depending on how the spirit moves me.
Guitar, it’s easy to play around.
I play the drums anyway, but playing with a good analog synthesizer is some of the most fun you can have with an instrument even when you can’t play it for shit.
It makes you realize how little talent some electronic producers have sometimes.
@lloydbird, I actually suck at it, but I can occasionally pluck out something listenable.
@dverhey
I think the most fun is playing with a Cajon.
Gotta be the saxphone for me!
@sleepdoc the sax is my favourite instrument. I wish I could play one.
@sleepdoc I had a go at trying to play one once and could barely get a note out of it. me and reeds don’t get along. I love to listen to the experts play though.
