After having pneumonia I was diagnosed with CHF now my heart is pumping 45% instead of the 20% after the diagnosis is this a big difference?

Asked by silky1 (1510points) October 13th, 2010

Also my doctor says he’d be happy with 60%. Can I live a normal life with the 45%?

You need to ask your doctor those questions or do your own research on the Web. Look up Congestive Heart Failure on a reputable site like Mayo Clinic.

PubMed cites research that shows that supplementing with CoQ10 can be beneficial for those with Congestive Heart Failure.

Good luck.

@marinelife has it exactly right. This is too big a topic for us to weigh in on. Another good site for layman’s info is www.webmd.com.

Check with your Dr, but there are classes at my local YMCA for strengthening and improving heart function. It includes exercise and proper nutrition.

You may need a referral from your Dr.

It depends on the class of CHF you are in, and other health problems you might have. Your doctor will give a precise answer as he/she might know your condition better.
