My family curse alot. So since birth. I was cussing out the neighbors at 3 yrs. So no I do not think kids curse more these days. I do think the “F-word” is more accepted than ever in history.
My family didn’t ever censor themselves around the kids, and my mother says my very first word was “shit”, used appropriately when I couldn’t reach a toy. So, yeah, birth. I’m 43 years old now.
I went to the other extreme for a while, and my own children rarely heard such a word from us. When they were very young, we even considered words like butt, stupid, idiot and shut up ‘bad words’ as far as they were concerned. Now that they are teenagers, they give me a lot of shit about that. :p
I don’t think cursing is any more prevalent now, though it might be a smidge more public.
Probably pretty young. Dad, on a rare occasion, would use, “Damn!” instead of his more regular “Beans!”. I don’t think it was until I was in my teens that friends started using curse words.
Today, they are seen and heard fairly regularly by some of the young ones, but certainly not all. For some, it may be a way of expressing their change from childhood into adulthood. In others, I suspect it just becomes common language that they adapt without really thinking about. For example, WTF? Literally, it makes no sense to me, but I understand the meaning and see it frequently.
Probably in utero. My mom spewed them long, hard, and loud.
My dad would say them in every sentence. So probably since the day I was born. If you’re asking when was the first time I actually remember hearing.. I would say three. I said my first curse word at five. I told my teacher “I have to go take a chit (shit).” lol
Stupid and Shut up… were among the ones my father so hated, they were curse words in my house.
Probably the day I was born. Seriously. My dad cursed a lot, jokingly, my whole life. I was terrified that a friend would hear him. He even cursed the week he passed away!
