How do you know it is tension? Are you sure you have not skipped caffeine today? If it is tension, I would take 2 Ibuprofen (400mg total) if you are under 120 pounds, 3 if you weigh more, with a glass of water and a little something to eat, to protect your tummy, can be a couple crackers. In 50 minutes headache should be gone. Best if you can also relax your eyes, maybe take a bath.

If it is that you missed caffeine intake at lunch time, drink a little coke or equivalent, or have some tea or coffee, and take the advil.

I believe you, but just to reinforce my point, it matters what time you drank it. If you usually have two cups at lunch, and didn’t get your typical required amount, you would be rebounding. I find frequently people don’t realize how addicted they are to caffeine. They resist the idea. But I don’t want to group you in. Meanwhile, of course you can have a simple tension headache unrelated to caffeine. It’s 9:10 here. I’ll be looking for your post at 10:10 that you feel much better. Good luck :)

I rarely get intense headaches anymore, but the thing that always helped me was taking a couple of aspirin and falling asleep in a dark room.

LOL. I’ll skip lecturing you on drinking too much caffeine.

Haha. I don’t think you have to go cold turkey, but moderation might help.

Oh good. That is better than meds.

If the shower helped, the headaches may be congestion related.
