Would Kindle be good for technical books?

I have a Kindle (3rd generation) and I often use technical PDFs with equations. I find even with a large monitor on my computer, having the document on the Kindle on my desk right in front of me (between my arms in between me and the keyboard) to be very handy. It frees up more space for code and other windows. If you’re doing to be using it almost exclusively for that purpose you might consider the Kindle DX’s larger screen. PDFs can still be a little cramped on the Kindle’s screen (I don’t mind so much but I have incredibly good vision—I rarely zoom unless there’s one massive equation I need to see, try rotating the display).

Wow. I just took a break from reading The Einstein Theory of Relativity by Lorentz on my Kindle (3rd gen), and this question pops up.

I bought it as a test since I had $140 to burn, but I’m still trying to decide if the purchase was worth it. I agree with @timtrueman in that it has a tiny screen. I would also definitely recommend the DX or another brand that size if you’ll use it solely for technical books, textbooks, or any type of reference text.

I survive with my 6” Kindle by rotating the PDF and lining up the document every page turn. You could do that, but it’s a pain.

Sounds like the DX fits you to a T. Or consider keeping an eye on the upcoming Android tablets instead.

Thanks all. The DX does seem like a good fit, but it is a bit pricey. I think I will wait a bit and see what other products comes out.
