Did you just smile? No? Well what has made you smile recently, sourpuss?

I hug my kids when I need a pick-me-up – or a tree.

Seconds ago my dog just wandered up to me, sat down & gave me that double high five paw thing. Aww, methinks she wants to go walkies.
Double high fives are awesome.
Yeah, I better do as she says before she gives me those eyes. Outta here!
I just brought in the laundry from hanging out in the sunshine and the soft sea air. It smelled and felt like heaven. :)
My son hugged me today, super tight. I said “I love you, E.” He says “Allahya too, Mama”
First time he’s said that. ^_^
This question made me smile. Inside jokes, accomplishments (mine or others), coincidences, children, hugs, and charity make me smile :)
@Rollalong Welcome to fluther: you a newb or re-boot jelly?
Kayak8 just made me smile!
The Bubby just made me smile with her penguin.
I got to talk to my my husband this evening and tell him the good news about our little one was in the right spot. That made me smile.
I smiled both times.
curse you
Using my cell phone, I recorded a Mockingbird going through his repertoire, sounding like a dozen other birds. I swear, one of his “songs” sounded like a car alarm going off and another like a police siren!! LOL Hours later while riding my bike through a park in another part of town, I stopped, got out my cell phone and played the recording on LOUD. Immediately another Mockingbird responded, matching the first bird song for song!! That made me smile!!
@karemelia Welcome to fluther. First time here? I didn’t think so.
;-)
Is it weird to say that the last time I smiled was about 20 minutes ago when I was at Wal-Mart buying antifreeze?
I’m kind of a people watcher, and the way the sun was setting, and the washed out colors, and the way people were interacting with each other was like some dreamy scene from a movie and I felt a profound sense of interconnectedness with the universe at that moment, and I smiled.
Weird, huh?
@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard Not at all. I am a people watcher, or actually more of a boobs watcher – and they come with people attached to them (sadly, sometimes. Oy, that sounded creepy – anyway…)
In any event, boobs will make me smile. Especially trees with boobs – but then, I’m high and you’re not so this makes sense to only me.
@seazen, well, I mean, boobs are usually relevant.
I just smiled reading about @Seaofclouds Nimbus placement on the “something great” thread… :-))) oh, there I go again!
@Seek_Kolinahr and @Seaofclouds answers just made me smile. However, earlier today I was smiling about the bazillion macarons we finished at my internship. Tasty and beautiful!
@seazen happyness is now gone as a topic. So is happy. Happiness is what’s left.
And that makes me happy.
I am almost always smiling and being humorous as I go about my day.
Infact, this afternoon I complemented a guy walkng down the street with the biggest, nicest smile on his face. ‘A smiling human face…good job!’ lol
I also had a wrong number and made a joke with the guy that answered about not sounding like my friend and what had he done with her? He was one of those flatliners that just didn’t seem amused.
I actually like to play a psychology game with strangers and see how they respond to smiling and small talk and humor. I think those that can be playful and open are usually much happier people in general, I know I am. I can’t do the Eeyores of the world, all gloom and doom and complaints. Big fat bummer for them. lol
@seazen Yes, it is actually my first time here, thanks for the welcome!...Lots of topics to explore….fun place!
@karemelia Oh, baby. Run to askville or answerplace quick – while you can still get away.
My sister.
I am making a Halloween costume for my neighbor, who happens to be a dear friend of mine. My sister and the neighbor are similarly proportioned, so I was using her as a live mannequin to pin the pieces until I see my neighbor. The material for the bottom half of the costume is very fuzzy, static prone. I brushed my sister’s hand at some point, and we both got shocked. I jumped back and yelled “You bitch!” (I didn’t mean it, obviously… we just talk to each other like that in a playful manner.) and she retorted “Me? You are the one rubbing carpet all over me.”
And although I’m sure it isn’t even a little bit funny to anyone else, it was so hilarious that we both started cracking up.. and we laughed until we cried. That was fun. :)
When I got home from work, I got a great big hug from my 11 yr old who proceeded to do a killer drum solo on my belly!!
A post on Facebook from a nephew to my cousin’s daughter. The two of them have never met. I ‘introduced’ them over a year ago, and friendship they have formed through the banter that they exchange despite being halfway around the world from each other is priceless.
Me and my brother and a few close friends always say this phrase, “Welcome to the Theater of the Easily Amused.” That is because we are always noticing all sorts of little things that make us happy or that make us laugh. We are not easily bored and tend to notice the small things that other people might find mundane. There’s so much crappiness in the world today that it’s good to belong to the Theater of the Easily Amused. It makes life bearable. Some of the things that I’m easily amused by: a funny joke that you and your family tell over and over again, the sight of spots on a dog’s pink belly, little tiny pumpkins, the sound of glass Christmas ball ornaments clinking, goats and chickens, rolly polly bugs, baby’s feet, pig snouts, snorting pug dogs, the smell of a campfire, swimming penguins, ice-skating, eating Grandma’s Thanksgiving recipes, Christmas lights and cheese.
@Kardamom
Oh yes, cheese is one of the 7 wonders of life!
If I am ever homeless I might be forced to steal good cheeses. lol
@seazen and @Coloma, I think it’s too late….I’ve already left twice, intending not to return tonight…and here I am again…LOL
@Kardamom, I take your cheesy post as a good omen!! I’m holding my breath, waiting to find out if I got the job I interviewed for today which is working in the cheese section of a fine emporium specializing in gourmet foods and premium brands of beer, wine and liquor!! Trying to break out of being a paper-pushing desk jockey….I will be holding my breath until Monday, when the head cheese (sorry!) is to make his decision. Fortunately for me, I look good in blue…
@Kardamom, enjoyed your lovely, vivid descriptions! Er, is it permissible to comment this way? Or should I just show my love by clicking on “Great Answer?” Doncha hate it when newbs refuse to read the FAQS….
Ooops, sorry, I meant @Coloma, I see your cheesy post as a good omen!!!
@karemelia
Aaaah…a new girl with a great sense of humor! My favorite type of person! lol
Yes, so many cheese so little time…Cheese, beer and wine, what a great work environment!
@karmelia Thanks for the positive thoughts about my musings : ) See, now you are part of the Theater of the Easily Amused.
@Coloma Yes, I agree that a life without cheese would be almost impossible. You must try Trader Joe’s white stilton with cranberries it’s sublime.
Hearing a song that I like being played through the loudspeakers in the supermarket.
The song in question? Dancing In The Moonlight
@Kardamom, re “Trader Joe’s white stilton with cranberries”....delirium and drool, imaging….
my pup coming to me with her new little toy tire in her mouth with the big part in front of her eyes.:D
I took my 2 year old daughter to McDonalds tonight and she was in the 3 and younger section and sat in a car with these two little black girls. The one girl had really curly hair and it was in pig tails so it looked like she had little poof balls on the sides of her head and my daughter looked at her, kind of studied her hair… then all of a sudden poke…poke poke poke poke! And then she sat in her lap. We’ve never met this girl or her parents before but it was pretty cute. I got it on video.
And that is what has made me smile recently. =]
@karemelia Yeah, I love it too. I always make sure I have my camera or fiance’s iPhone to capture those priceless moments.
My husband has made my computer screen into a slide show of all our photos, so I spend most of my day watching them and smiling.
I like hugging pillows, but there’s no real deep reason, it’s soft and cuddly!
@Symbeline Last night I had the strangest dream I ever had before, I dreamed I was eating marshmallows and when I woke up my pillow was gone.
@seazen It could be worse. Three dudes once had to share a bed. The next morning, the one on the right says “guys, I had the best dream, I was having sex with the most beautiful woman.” The one on the left says “I dreamed I was having sex, too! It was the best!” The one in the middle goes: “Aw, man, that’s not fair. I only dreamed I was skiing.”
Reading these answers made me smile.
I swear my kid does these things on purpose just for my amusement…
Today, my best friend and I took my daughter to the pumpkin patch then went back to her (my best friend’s) house to carve the pumpkins. My friend thought my daughter smelled a little stinky so we went into the living room to change her diaper. She starts unbuttoning my daughter’s onesie and out pops three crayons!! It turns out the stink was just some gas expulsion but it led to a mighty colorful discovery. =]
