Pretty self explanatory.
I’ll start. I usually hear the intro background vocal line in Peter Gabriel’s Games Without Frontiers as “She’s so fucking gay.” I have no idea what the real line is.

I always hear the opening line of “If You Don’t Start Drinking” as:
I’m tired of putting up with your Sol LeWitt.
But to my credit I thought it was unlikely George Thorogood would reference 1960’s Minimalist art in a song. Even if Sol Lewitt was somewhat tiresome.
You-tube, has songs with lyrics – but once upon a time, you could hear it on the radio only… and if you were lucky and had the money, maybe buy the record. I swear I didn’t know/understand all the words until I looked them up.
On this, and many other songs (but then, English isn’t my first language – and I was young)...
I still can’t hear Yellow Ledbetter without thinking potato wave.
@Trillian I never noticed how indistinct the vocals were in that song.
There’s a couple of great ads from the 80’s, here and here, that are very funny.
@dverhey FYI It’s “jeux sans frontiers” – “Games with out frontiers,” in French.
Just dropped in to say that song is a massive favourite of mine, love it. It’s a knockout!!
here is a link to the most awesome misheard lyrics video i have found. here is another video that is quite good.
as for lyrics i have misheard my self, they are not really that funny, odd words here and there. the funniest would probably the theme song to the tv show only fools and horses. when he says “the besties” it sounded to me as a kid like “asbestos”.
The theme song to “That Girl”
Diamonds, Daisies, Snowflakes,
That Girl
Chestnuts, Rainbows, Springtime…
Is That Girl
She’s tinsel on a tree…
That last line I always though was “She’s in Salada tea”

My SO hears One Banana in this Brittany Spears song when it’s played at work. I think Weird Al should consider this interpretation for a project.
lol when I was little my dad used to listen to a station that played “WHat’s love got to do with it” by Tina Turner. And I always thought it said “What’s love Dr. Doolittle, Dr. Doolittle!” I’d sing it everytime it came on and no one ever thought to corect me until a couple years ago!
@crazyivan Gracious almighty. That one’s been bookmarked. Thanks for sharing. Tissue please.
I could’ve sworn I was hearing the phrase “Grandma Yay” in two songs. Turns out one was “Grand Marnier” and the other was “Grand Marque”. :P
@crazyIvan: so THAT’S what he was saying? All these years I have wondered—- I have to go lay down now. I have not laughed that hard in a long time… thank you!
