What emergency food staple should be carried in all automobiles?
Wife and I travel quite a bit, since i retired. As you know, on the road, anything can happen, including waiting in a line of traffic for an overturned vehicle, up the road ahead of you. This could take hours.Question: What food staple(s) should always be carried in your automobile?

I say water and trail mix, maybe Gatorade.
Usually for any drive more than an hour I have a “Sack O’ Snax” that i bring; tail mix, granola bars (and of course, the World’s Most Perfect Food…M&Ms) and a couple of bottles of water. Spending years road-tripping with a child taught me a few things…
Good answers. wife and i have discovered that a box of Rirz Crackers and a gallon of spring water suffices for us. we have used this combination on two separate occasions, while waiting.
A .50 cal ammo can filled with almonds, bottled water, a few peanut butter containers from the breakfast buffet, plastic utensils, 2 pack of tissues, a pair of underwear and socks in a freezer bag, 2 packs of matches in a sealed bag, an old Leatherman, and a pencil and notebook.
Oh! And two Orion Skyblazer Red Aerial Flare/Launchers.
The box is always ready.
Car-boyhdrates! Keeps your engine running, although may give you gas :¬)
Cashew nuts. Very filling.
Ranch dressing. Goes with everything.
I always keep a small bag of peanuts with me. Hopefully I never get stranded with someone who’s allergic to nuts…
