We’ve changed our names and avatars and accounts so many times – well, I have – and some have left and returned.
March-May 09 ers – et al – how’ve you been? Do you miss it?

I do miss it sometimes, of course.

Haven’t thought about it in a while. As soon as Fluther allowed for more social questions, I started to miss wis.dm less. Fluther has all the best parts of wis.dm without the flamewars and lemsteve…
I don’t even remember it to miss it…
Never used wis.dem, but I know there are quite a few jellies from there. I happen to be one of those people that used to use Yahoo! Answers, and then gained a brain, after which I was mature enough to recognize the stupidity that lives on that site.
I miss some of my old friends that I haven’t found. And I agree with @DominicX -I am glad that there is more room for the social side now.

Present and yes, I miss the veil of safety to divulge, indulge and stuff but there were some lessons learned there about not everyone being “just an internet screen name”. There were some people who were obsessive, destructive and truly scary. I miss the fun we had to share our pictures, adventures and online interactive games.
Here—I’ve forgotten what it was like.
Present and accounted for – same name even.
There are certain characters i miss. Like lem-steve he was really sweet…ahh bless him.
@mammal – I find myself in agreement with you – for once. He was sweet and kind – like a Nazi master chef..
@seazen lol, he was great to vent on.
I’m here and honestly please don’t hate me for this I don’t miss wis.dm. I loved it at the time but Fluther feels like an awesome upgrade!
Hate you? I lurve you – besides, who remembers wis.dm fondly here? I’ve always said moderation is absolutely necessary. It was crazy.
@seazen You made me smile! I feel like I fit in more here than I did at wis.dm
I felt like I was at war with lamesteve – like I was a Simon Wiesenthal to his neo-nazi persona – of course it was mostly anti-Israel stuff.. but it always drained me emotionally. Looking back – I wasted years there…
I’d like to say wis.dm was great before 2009, not much fun at all after that. I thought the summer of 2007 til the spring of 2008 was AWESOME. sigh. Yeah, moderators would’ve been nice.
I <3 Fluther! Wis.dm was what is was- It throws me off when people change their names and avatars @zen, but I have reconnected with some people I “recognize”. I actually had quit Wis.dm before things went down and reconnected here later. I agree, @Neizvestnaya
Yeah, the Summer of ‘07 was pretty amazing. Come 2009, most of the original members had quit, and the site was taken over by lemsteve and shell’s shenanigans.
@Ivan: The summer of ‘08 when the site added the awkward chat feature and multiple “scenes” seemed to split and dissipate the great energy there :( I was afraid the split into section here in fluther might go bad like that but so far, fluther still feels good.
I still miss wisdm & I wish it had continued. It was innovative & vibrant, & I found it endlessly fascinating.
I miss Anal_Grammar_Nazi and Red – who initially came over but left. Also Kevisaurus / Kraken has tried and quit several times here.
I poo’d a little.
I do miss it. There were people that I used to communicate with every day that I haven’t heard squat form since. I miss those people.
Ahhh, the boob wars and Caturday… all the hilarious lolcat pictures… le sigh. I miss Anal Grammar Nazi also and Mathgeek, Grog and Michale. Unless any of those guys are here and I don’t realize it…... that would be interesting.
Wow – Michale. I still have his “zen card” he made for me… he was a smart cookie and would fair well here – he didn’t like the wars.
LOL, yes I have the card he made me too. Sometimes I’m really grateful to be here with the moderation (I hated the mods until the “social” section was created), but there are moments when I really miss wis.dm a lot. There were so many good people there, and so many silly insane wonderful questions that made me laugh so hard. There’s some of that here, but not nearly as much, and sometimes it makes me sad.
LOL! I never broadcasted it, because I made quite a few enemies. I’m Nina.
OH SNAP AAAAHHHH I had no idea.
I would have recognized you more easily if you were to use that assatar again.
OMG! I’d forgotten about that! I actually deleted a lot of my old avatars quite a while back.
@WillWorkForChocolate OMG OMG OMG – I just answered your question thinking who is this girl. I can;t believe it’s Nina.
OKAY CALLING ALL WIS.DMERS – IT’S TIME TO REVEAL YOUR TRUE IDENTITY.
Lmao Bob, I think we got that…
@seazen Oh, and just so you know, I’m actually still great friends with AGN, and we talk frequently. She’s still her same, goofy-ass, perfect self. I wish she were here though.
Tell her to drop me a line if she wants. We hated each other at first – mostly because I don’t like the use of the word “nazi” even in a nickname – as most of my family were erased in the Shoah. Because we actually overcame that – and if you know her – she aint the easygoing type – she actually changed her name – remember Anal_Grammar_Monkey or something… we became wis.buddies and would join forces against the evil grammar-less villains. ~
In any event, I’ll PM you my email – if she’s interested..
Say hi.
Hey Nina! I miss Mathgeek too! And Drewsifer….
I do miss the version of wis.dm that existed prior to them adding all those stupid categories. It was fun sharing pictures and videos, and asking a mix of intelligent and stupid (steam releasing) questions. The version that existed after that… I don’t miss at all. It really jumped the shark, foreshadowing its death, when it “upgraded” to all the categories and chat rooms.
@Kraigmo I couldn’t agree more. It was SO much better before they made all the different categories. I like it when there’s a healthy mixture of serious questions, funny questions, rant questions, “I love you bro” questions and sex question, rather than be split up into separate categories… it kind of sucked. And didn’t quite a few people leave after that change?
