What do you do after a really unhealthy meal?

Asked by xxii (3329points) October 16th, 2010

Just interested in how people think.

Say you’re on a diet, but you gave in to temptation and had a really unhealthy meal. After your plate is empty, how do you feel and what do you do?

a) Sit there feeling awful about yourself.

b) Heave a sigh, let it pass and tell yourself you’ll do better next time.

c) Wait an hour and hit the gym running.

d) Enjoy it to its fullest. Life is too short to count calories all day.

e) Other?

After an intense junk food splurge then my stomach usually kills me for a few days in punishment. I try to drink warm or hot water to dissolve as much grease stuff as possible, rub my tummy and tell myself, I won’t do that again. Yeah right.. I lurve Jack n The Box Jalepeno poppers.

I generally eat fairly healthy, and exercise regularly. Plus, I’m pretty skinny naturally, and really have to work to gain weight (sorry, not trying to brag).

So, I usually just enjoy the feeling with little to no guilt. I had a big burger and a bunch of fries last night for dinner, actually.

I don’t care much. I work hard at losing the 50 pounds I need to shred, but I don’t kill myself over one bad meal. I have had bad meals and still managed to lose weight that week by eating a small breakfast and not having a late snack so I’m still under my calorie goal on days I know I’ll be eating somewhere without a healthy choice.

I strongly believe people who beat themselves up fail more often because they get overwhelmed.

Drink a beer, of course.

Eat something healthy. That’s what I usually do anytime I eat junk food.

Exercise if I can, and drink lots of water. Then I try to eat less in the next few days.

Almost never happens and if for some reason where I am at serves meatloaf or other heinous feed, I work it off by dancing like this

Drink a lot of water and walk two miles instead my usual one.

Yes, I tend to fast or near fast the next day and drink lots of water to clean out the junk residue. lol

Actually I have really been blowing it this last few weeks.

Not so much junk, my diet has been pretty healthy but I have been in this phase of not eating anything til 2–3 in the afternoon, it has just happened this way, and then I feel absolutely awful.

I eat but I never lose that kind of sick and spaced out feeling the rest of the day.

I must get back to a more balanced situation this week and eat BREAKFAST before 11 a.m.

I think to myself, “Even if I travelled back in time to an hour ago, I’d still gorge myself out anyway.” As long as if you enjoyed yourself, and don’t binge on food too often, it shouldn’t matter in the long run.

But still, I make the effort to hit the gym harder the day after.

Belch, fart & sink another beer. Then go run it off :¬)

I enjoy it… If I eat out, sometimes I like to go for a stroll after a nice meal and go window shopping.

I thank mother nature and hope I’ll be alive for the next binge.
