I'm a 13 year old boy and my favorite channel is CNN. Is this normal?

Perhaps not normal, but normal is overrated! What do you particularily like it for? It’s not a bad thing to like more serious channels. I personally can’t watch the blithering nonsense on most channels. unless there are owls.

I’m 33 and mostly watch reality shows. We balance each other out.

Seriously, while you might not be the norm among your peers you are probably better off being interested in the world and what is actually going on. I would suggest expanding your horizons. BBC World News is good and so is The News Hour on PBS.

But anyways, enjoying news (which I assume is what you watch it for, if not, then what?) isn’t a bad thing. It’s good to know what’s going on around you.

If you watch CNN for time pass then it’s OK. Even if you don’t understand what is shown, then also it’s fine. :D. better to watch Cartoon network than CNN.

I’m a 57-year-old man and I often watch the History Channel, even though I’ve already lived through so much of it. Seems normal enough.

Normal is whatever you want it to be. If watching CNN is fun for you and it’s what you like to do then it’s what you should do =]

Why do you care about being normal? That’s my question to you. Who cares if you’re 13 and don’t watch… whatever most 13-year-old boys are watching? I don’t even remember what I watched at that age. Mostly anime on Cartoon Network I think… but I have been watching Law & Order for friggin ever.

@ParaParaYukiko as much as I liked your answer—and I do like it—it’s not “normal” for a 13-year-old boy to not be pretty interested in either being or appearing to be ‘normal’ to his peers. Not that it’s bad or wrong, just unusual.

@CyanoticWasp Yes, that’s true. Perhaps the OP is just more mature than other 13 year olds, which judging by his taste in TV is probably the case. It may make it hard for him socially, but hey, what’s middle school without a nice dose of social awkwardness?

I was watching alot of news and PBS when I was that age. The funny thing is now I like cartoons, so is that normal?

It’s not like I go around telling people, so I’m not socially awkward in that sense. Although, I also like other channels like the History Channel. I like Family Guy, too, and most other shows on Fox, just not Fox News… ;D

Dont you think that this is a good thing? Youre interested in current events and that may mean (I’m not so sure about YOU) that you may actually want to get involved in current issues today. Its better to know things about the world today and get involved as a youth.
Society these days has younger generations like you and me to care more about social media instead of political/current issues we have today. Ask anyone in your school what they think about Jersey Shore. I bet they have more thoughts on that than with the upcoming election next year.
Continue it, because we need more voices from youth like you. :]
