I’m ambidextrous.

Definitely a country person, though I never thought I would like it better than the city when I was younger. I grew up in Las Vegas and then moved to a small town in Illinois when I was 16. I hated it at first, but as I grew older I fell in love with it. I just moved to a farm on 200 acres just four weeks ago and it is heaven to me. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Both. I would love to live in the country with a peid a terre in the city.

I grew up in the country on a 40 acre farm. It was fun as a kid but I was glad to get away from it. Now I don’t need to drive. There is tons of shit to do via bike, train, or bus.

I’d rather be in the country where I can have my space.

I’ve never lived in the country, or even been to the countryside, so I cannot in good conscious refer to myself as a “country person”. I am a city-slicker through and through.

Some days I’m barely a person. Qualifiers are optional.

A little bit of both.

I appreciate what the city has to offer like fine dining, entertainment, easy access to goods and services, etc… However, I also appreciate the slower paced practicality of the country.

The solution: A primary residence located in an older suburb of a city that has not yet become absurdly overpopulated (yet) with a yard large enough to do things like garden, have a chicken coop, have a forge, etc… along with a bit of acreage suitable for camping/hunting located close enough to run away to for a long weekend.

Country country country.

I’m somewhere in between. I currently live in a town that is close to two cities while, at the same time, being close to the countryside. It’s perfect.

City. The outdoors suck.

cookieman's avatar

City person here. I’ve always lived within minutes of downtown and spend most of my time in the city or adjacent smaller cities.

I really dislike the country. Nature and I don’t get along too well. It’s fine on vacation sometimes (but I’d prefer the ocean).

Ironically I work at a farm, but it’s 15 minutes outside of the city and we’re in a very suburban setting – so I can deal.

I love the outdoors, I love being able to do whatever the hell I want, I love nature, I love animals, I love wide open spaces, and I love the woods.

I also love buying shit.

So in that case, I’ll live in the country but drive a fast car to get me to the city when need be.

I’m a country girl.

crisw's avatar

Country! Where I can have all the animals I want, breathe fresh air, and go to bed at night listening to the coyotes howl…

johlucmoha's avatar

I grew up in the city. The city is fast, filled with subways.trains and buses.
Sometimes i want to get away. I have friends that live in the country and in the summer I plant a garden. I enjoy sitting outside at night and looking at the moon and the stars it is so awesome!

Country. I need nature and animals and grass and fresh air, not concrete and black smoke filling my lungs. I like towns, I like the country, but if I was forced to live in NYC or Los Angeles, I’d be dead soon after. Also, I hate traffic. Cannot deal with it.

YoBob's avatar

I’m really (pleasantly) surprised at the number of country folks that spend their time hanging out on Fulther.

jonsblond's avatar

@deni Traffic makes my heart race. I hate it. It’s hard enough for me to deal with in a town of 30,000 (our closest large town), I would probably have a heart attack if I had to drive in Los Angeles.

crisw's avatar

@YoBob

What would be an interesting question is how many of the folks who prefer the country actually live there. I know I have read surveys that stated that the majority of polled folks want to live in the country- but few of them are lucky enough to do so.

I live in the city and love living in the city. I grew up in the country, and after a while it became clear that I did not belong there. I didn’t know that then. It is only after experiencing the city that I have realized I would have died a lonely death in the country.

xxii's avatar

City person, but I like to get away to places like the country now and then.

At heart I am a country person. I choose to live in small towns that are near cities. The one I live in now seems like a small town, with our own police, town hall, parks and shopping, but is within a large metropolitan area. I am near hiking and horse trails and there are several wild live refuge areas near by.

I’m a villager.

CyanoticWasp's avatar

@Neizvestnaya which one are you? The Indian? The Cop? The Hardhat Guy? Cowboy? Sailor? I still enjoy that Y-M-C-A thing.

@CyanoticWasp: Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

@bob_ Why do you say the outdoors suck????????

bob_'s avatar
