Somebody in another question postulated that a large percentage of people who consider themselves “country folk” still live in the city because their circumstances dictate they do so.
How about you?

I’m not sure that I necessarily consider myself “country folk” but semi-rural maybe? I work in the city because I have to. That’s where the money is. If I could work in the country and live there too, I’d be happier.
Even though I live in the city, I sometimes go into the country and harvest work for a friend
of my fiance. I love country living. I enjoy eating wild meat and the weeds that are edible.
I am a country girl at heart.
Oi’ve gotta brand noo combine arvester & o’ll give you the key. Quite possibly so.
I live in a small city, but I’d much prefer to live in the country. Does that count?
I consider myself a “southerner” but not “country folk” and I live in a big city surrounded by rural areas.
I live within a large metropolitan city and i still walk barefoot in the grass.
What does this make me? a redneck, city, slicker???
I don’t know @john65pennington, that whole barefoot in the grass thing is a whole lot more hippie than redneck. ;)
Me. I was born and raised in the country, but I live in the city now for two reasons. First, I will never be able to drive, so I need a place with a good public transport network. And second, I’m very social and extrovert and being in the country for more than a couple of weeks at a time bores me to death. I like to have places to go, and means of getting there. I wouldn’t (couldn’t) live anywhere else but the city now.
I love country life but live in a city. I grew up in North Dakota. I wonder if there are ordinences on owning a duck.
My husband is a “country-folk” but I lured him to a small city with the explanation of what bigger jobs and paychecks we can have here. However, we own a large portion of land in the country so that he can spend lots of time in a deer stand, hunting cabin, or just on the pond when he wants.
