Yep. The question asks it all.
Would you rather work at a local coffee shop or something bigger like Peets, Starbucks, Seattles best etc? Why?
What are the advantages/disadvantages? Imagine yourself maybe?

I would want to work at a small local cafe somewhere really big like NY or Boston because if the chains ever go down, I won’t be out of a job, and I like the small little places that not many people know about, except locals. I’ve always wanted to own a cafe.
Small cafe…because of the family feeling.
I once applied for a job at Starbucks, but I got offered a better job in the meantime, so when they came back offering me an interview I turned it down. I think the chains would be more stable to behonest. The little independents here are all getting squeezed out or taken over. My favourite independent coffee shop in town closed down a month ago. I can’t see Starbucks going out of business anytime soon.
A hybrid of the two… in my town / general area there is a local chain. They have seven stores throughout the county… so I know they are not going anywhere, but they are not corporate america either.
I’d rather work at a local cafe. Starbucks is too much busy busy busy! The people who order there are rude and just snapy.
A franchise would be likely to have better benefits.
The ‘feel’ of the place IS my main benefit.
A small cafe would be my choice. I think it would be more intimate and less stressful. I think you could really get to know and like your customers.
My grandaughter works for Starbucks in Seattle. she loves her job and is a good employee. she loves this job, simply because it pays her a salary, rather than tips waiting on tables at a restaurant. so, based on her comments, i would say Starbucks.
The one that most likely would have the best chance of advancement and benefits.
The one that pays better.
