Ever felt as though you were walking in circles and not getting anywhere in life? What did it take for you to get sorted out and move forward?

I am struggling with this right now. I don’t know whether I am coming or going.
Hopefully, therapy will help.

Kind of the opposite. I was always convinced over and over again that I was getting somewhere. I’d get all excited and then find I was walking in circles, swimming in circles, drowning by degrees. It’s been so slow to rebuild but I want it so bad so I just keep on and try to enjoy the ride.
@mama_cakes everyone goes through this at some point in their life….I’m kind of where you are now, but it will change for the better. That is always my hope.
In a way, I’m always in that place. You know how people say “I’m never growing up?” I’m kind of like that. I’ve also never known where I was going. I never exactly established life goals—except I wanted to be a lover and a father. Those were the most important things to me.
I didn’t really care about a career, nor did I have any particular passion. I was interested in everything.
I’ve often thought I should have career plans and specific goals and the like, but I’ve never thought that strongly enough to do it. So I’ve been rambling through life like someone lost in the forest, looking for interesting things. I’ve found a few companions and that’s great.
I think that what I did was reframe the question. It’s not what am I going to do, but how am I going to live. I don’t mind going around in circles. It’s my life. There’s no reason why any destination is better than any other one. If I’m wandering around, that’s fine. I’m not going to beat myself up (too much) about having no goals and being somewhat directionless.
Here’s what’s going to happen, @mama_cakes. At some point, you’re going to look back on your life, and it’s going to look like a highway driving straight towards where you happen to be.
Don’t judge yourself. You don’t have to have a goal. Wandering in circles is a really good way to make sure you find something interesting. When the time comes, you will find yourself to be where you are, and that will be good.
I’m feeling like this at the moment. I’m trying to remind myself that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be in my life at the moment. I still have to make the decisions I need to make though and I haven’t tackled that yet, so evaluating what I want and what’s the best way for me to get there is the next step.
I agree with @wundayatta about not judging yourself. Allow yourself to be where you are and give yourself some time.
