Is it possible to mount a 2.5" SSD in a 3.5" (floppy) drive bay?

Asked by UScitizen (4306points) October 21st, 2010

Newegg has a good deal on a 64gb SSD. I am wondering if I can easily mount it in a mid tower case. Is there an adapter type of tray that will accomplish this?

Yes they do. My NZXT Hades midi tower case came with some. They look a bit like this:

SSDs don’t really care much about vibrations and such. It will work fine even if you just hang it in there ;) .

The “correct” approach is to use a 2.5” to 3.5” mounting bracket.

While @GeorgeGee is correct, so is @tangodogg, and I have to admit that I have mounted drives with duct tape before. Brackets are the best way to go, but not the only way.
