What's your expertise that goes unused on Fluther?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37748points) October 21st, 2010

I happen to have performed many times as a drag queen, but so far no one has asked any questions relating to that kind of transformation from makeup application, to choosing the proper boob size, to perfecting lip syncing. And does anyone care about how to properly store wigs? No, they don’t seem to. Moan

What do you do very well that is underappreciated by your fellow Jellies?

[I put this in the social section, because it’s about jellies and not about how Fluther runs which would be the meta section.]

My sarcasm and pessimism, and books

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

@Aesthetic_Mess : No, say it isn’t so.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Okay, how does one choose the proper boob size?

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe : Well, you see, you have to consider the size of your rib cage and chest and what a bra that size can hold. It’s all very technical

Aesthetic_Mess's avatar

@hawaii_jake Many women know how to do that, that’s probably why it’s never asked.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@hawaii_jake See expertise appreciated. LMAO

Nobody asks questions about archery. :(

You have made me curious about the storage of wigs. I never thought about it, but it makes sense that it would matter how you store them.

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

@bobbinhood : I turn my wigs inside out and store them in large Ziploc bags. If I had the space, I’d leave them on wig forms on a shelf. Why don’t you ask an archery question? Maybe you’ll be surprised at who will answer.

nobody asks about my chemical romance (yay yay I know many things about them. but it’s really awful that I don’t know everything about them)

bob_'s avatar

I know vast amounts of random shit. Most of it has not been asked.

Not many on Gothic architecture or 19th century literature

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

@janbb : Ooo, how about 19th century gothic literature?

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

I am good at refinishing furniture and very good at slap fights,Quick,strong and punishing if I do say so myself ;)

Literature. For all the ‘literary’ and literate people here, so few questions are asked of that subject. We might make a fine book club.

Genealogy but I don’t wish to discuss it . lol Stock research but I dont wish to discuss that either—esp not today ))-:

@Aster Long on banks?

CMaz's avatar

I wish there were discussions about what do do with nail clippings.

Fly swatting and making funny noises with a mouth full of cookies.

crisw's avatar

Scroll sawing, chinchilla raising, goat milking and Frankoma pottery :>D

Aster's avatar

@bob_ don’t own banks. ;-/

Aster's avatar

@ChazMaz it’s good you care!!! LOL Or else, you’d be happy to leave them on the floor.

bob_'s avatar

@Aster Those poor bastards are getting hit pretty bad today. What’s making you suffer today?

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

@crisw : I actually know what Frankoma pottery is! My grandmother had loads of it.

Aster's avatar

^^^^^^^^^^^ I used to date a Frankoma. (;

Aster's avatar

@bob_ SOL. Lousy stock.

crisw's avatar

@hawaii_jake

Well, you can send it all my way, if you want :>D

Satin knickers chaff my crotch, help? Now that’s a question i’m qualified to answer :¬)

absalom's avatar

There should also be more questions about me, about whom I am an expert, but no one seems to be interested.

bob_'s avatar

@Aster For a second I thought you had written “LOL”. I thought “well, at least she’s keeping a positive attitude”.

Aster's avatar

No; it’s always a concern but it does seem to come back doesn’t it? Esp in the mornings. ):

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

I can call cows.

bobbinhood's avatar

@hawaii_jake Perhaps if I come up with a question I will. I tend to only ask questions when I’m genuinely curious about something rather than to start discussions. I would be much more interested in answering archery questions than asking them.

Aster's avatar

How about harp questions? lol
I played archery in tenth grade. Does that count?

downtide's avatar

Jake I would LOVE to hear all about your drag experiences.

One of my areas of expertise is keeping rats. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a question about pet rats here, though I answer a few on Y!A now and again (mainly to warn people about not using wood-shavings or sawdust as cage litter). I don’t keep rats any more, I don’t have the space, but I miss them.

Patchwork. I spent the first year of my son’s life making a patchwork quilt for him out of all his quickly accruing old baby clothes :-) I love it but have not the time for it any more…

That’s really one of the challenges, that some folks really know stuff but their answers are hard to sort through with all the opinions from folks who really don’t know stuff. I for one, don’t know much stuff and try to stick with the stuff I know (which does get asked). For example, I am an expert on why her boyfriend doesn’t really love her any more. I know a great deal about why your junior high school friend is texting your other friend saying bad things about you. I know why your parents did that to you.

I guess this is one reason why I am a member of 4 different Q & A sites like this one. I am an expert on electricity, welding and industrial eqiupment. I am very knowlegdeable about paranormal and spirituality related issues. Not great topics to discuss on here. I’m not into debating unless it’s politically related.

Seahorse… no.

I don’t get nearly enough questions on Monty Python and their early ancillary activities, like I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again.
