What was your first drink?
And what’s your favorite drink?
Alcoholic I mean, or if you don’t drink, then your favorite drink.

A gin and orange. I was sick immediately afterwards :)))
I like a good wheat beer.Gin and tonic with a lime is nice too…
First drink – I honestly don’t remember
Favorite drink – A high end single malt scotch served neat in a snifter.
My first drink was a pint of Guinness when I was 18 months old – my parents looked away for one second hah!
Not sure how much of it I got in my mouth…
Appropriately, my favourite drink is stout.
Mine was a rum and coke at a wedding. Now I love a tall glass of real cherry juice on the rocks and an occasional glass of Chardonnay with a fine meal.
My first was probably a sip of my dads wine or lager/shandy. I’m not a fan of alcoholic drinks but will occassionally have some cider.
My first would have been a little sip of Creme De Menthe that my Mom would let me have from her glass when I was a kid. My drink of choice is Brinley Gold Vanilla Rum and Diet Coke. My shot of choice is a White Hornet (Berenjager honey liqueur and Baileys, chilled and shaken).
Twenty-one and dry. I don’t have any plans in the way of drinking alcoholic beverages.
Water is the most refreshing and blood orange soda the most delicious.
My first drink was when I was a freshman in college. It was a screwdriver. Volka and orange juice. Got sick as a dog.
My favorite drink is an occasionally glass of merlot before a meal.
@BoBo1946 I had the same response to my first screwdriver. Turned out I’m quite allergic to vodka.
Mother’s milk.
Rum was my first hard drink. I was a teenager. I don’t remember what age. All I know is I liked it.
My first drink would’ve been cider. Ugh, I shudder to think.
My drink of choice now is a nice glass of merlot.
I also like to have a vodka with a dash of 7up when I’m out and about
Lord Calvert whiskey was my first drink. I was around ten years old. It was my Grandfather’s; had a few glasses, filled the bottle up with tea, and pretended I had not touched it. My theft was discovered quickly. I quite enjoyed the taste of it.
My favorite drink is chai. I do not have a favorite alcoholic beverage.
The first alcohol I ever tasted was beer, a sip anyway. My dad let me try it when I was on a fishing trip with him. I was around 12. I was hot and thirsty and it was cold, but I hated the taste. Still do. My first adult drink was probably scotch which grew into a lifelong preference for single malt. I also like martinis and bloody marys, but I really, I don’t touch a drink more than three or four times a year anymore. After the first few sips or at most one glass,I don’t really enjoy it enough to risk having it in my blood on the road.
Genesee Cream Ale. We were in high school and went through large amounts of the stuff. We usually torpedoed the first few cans. We weren’t too smart. Now I prefer a chablis or a pinot noir or pinot grigio.
My first and favorite drink was/is beer.
When I was maybe 10 or so, I asked my dad what beer tasted like so he let me taste his… Budweiser or Schlitz or something like that. Bleagh. Didn’t touch beer again until I was legal. Now I’m a craft beer snob.
My first was probably a sip from my mom’s wine cooler when I was young at family events.
Right before we found out I was pregnant, my husband had bought this really, really good bottle of wine. We were actually planning to go out and buy more, but then found out I was pregnant so we didn’t. That is my new favorite drink and I can’t wait to have it again sometime down the road (after the baby is born). My favorite drink changes every few years. For a while it was cosmos and before that it was vodka sours.
Grey Goose.
And Grey Goose.
@Adirondackwannabe Ah yes, love the Abbey Ale. I’m taking a sixer of Ska’s Modus Hoperandi to the mountains today. Mmmmmm… camping.
@perg That sounds really good right now.
I’ve never had anything harder than Coca-Cola.
Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum. Something I will never, ever, ever drink again. No matter what.
Beer, Natty Lite I believe. Yum. ~
My first drink was my 14th birthday. I came home from sledding with my brother that afternoon to find my parents drinking with another couple of their friends. The liquor of choice Bailey’s Irish Cream in chocolate shot glasses. My parents friends convinced my mother that, since it was my birthday, I should be allowed to take a shot. It was delicious.
I’m sorry you feel so strongly about the Captain, @papayalily, because I would say that spiced rum is my favorite drink. I’m a pirate by nature, and there’s something about it that warms me like no other alcohol out there.
My first alcoholic drink was (inadvertently) TJ Swan, a cheapo red wine-based alcoholic beverage. I was 4. I thought it was Kool-Aid because it was red and in a regular beverage glass.
The first alcoholic drink I took and knew it was alcohol was 1984(?) Dom Perignon. A guy in my dorm had the first part of his 21st birthday celebration in his room, and his parents brought some of their good stuff to share with us on his floor before they took him out for dinner.
Mom used bourbon/whiskey as a cough medicine while we were growing up. We were also allowed to have a sip of their ‘happy hour’ drinks.
The first real drink was at 16, when my best friend’s brother bought us a quart of Old Milwaukee. We sat in the woods at the top of a hill in the neighborhood. Other than stumbling home later, it’s pretty much a blur, although my older sister remembers the arrival home well. Too well, in fact.
Now, I enjoy a glass (or two) of wine with dinner or a snifter of Courvoisier® with my SO’s dad. That’s when he tells the best family stories and about growing up in England.
I’ve gone deeper into my memory. I think it’s likely the VERY first alcohol I tasted was Mogan David at Passover. THAT I still love.
KEYSTONE LIGHT, awwww yeahhhh! Wearing my homecoming crown and shotgunning my first beer. Such sweet memories….
Haha, thanks. It was a classy evening. :/
@BoBo1946 LOL Creme de Menthe. I was fascinated by it because it was green.
@diavolobella actually sounds like it would have a good taste! I’ve never partaking of this drink.
@BoBo1946 Since this is such a serious and noble thread, I will point out one side affect of creme de menthe. We were drinking this at a fraternity party and we put away a considerable amount of it. The next day, one of the brothers came out of the bathroom and was heard to exclaim “Holy crap, I just left a green s**t.”
@YoBob Ever lived in a fraternity?
@Adirondackwannabe No, but I did live in a commune, which I suspect isn’t all that different.
@YoBob A commune might be more like a fraternity with the addition of class, culture, and maturity.
Grain Belt beer. My dad would give me sips when I was young. I thought it was nasty, but Dad drank it, so I wanted it too.
First- Some danish beer can’t remember the name.
Favourite – I haven’t tried too many, I have tried Carlsberg, Tuborg, Elephant… I can’t decide because they all taste the same:/
Whoops. Forgot my favourite: Bellini (peach purée and champagne)
First thing I drank when I turned 21 was a beer, Blue Moon I think it’s called. I wasn’t a fan.
First drink I ever had was wine. I got curious, after always seeing it in the fridge. I wasn’t a fan.
I have yet to figure out a “favorite” or even something I could say that I like. I’d much rather have a glass of apple juice.
@Adirondackwannabe lmao….......... my senior year in college, i went through M-Club intiation. They made us eat pills that caused our urine to pee red! They have now quit all that…hazing issue. Also, no intiation for freshmen anymore. They took all the fun out of school.
A martini. When I was 10 I asked my father for a taste.
I wondered how anybody could drink that stuff.
My first drink was Johnny Walker Red, but, my drink of choice is Coor’s lite beer
It was a pint of McEwan’s heavy which I had in a cinema during the interval. I don’t think you can get that stuff any more.
My first ever drink was champagne (although I think it might have been the cheap fake stuff). I was about 12 at the time. These days, that’s one of the things I don’t like. I’m not a fan of anything sparkling or fizzy.
My favourite is hard to pin down and varies depending on the occasion. Red wine, especially merlot and rioja. Real ale, not too dark. I also like a good cognac, or a good single malt Speyside scotch.
First drink: sip of whiskey from a shot glass when I was sometwhere under 10 years old.
Favorite drink: Whiskey, neat.
Mad Dog 20/20 orange flavour and white lightening cider!!
Sophomore year of high school, I was 15, I had an Irish coffee. Not too much later, I had beer, though I don’t remember the brand.
I believe Strawberry Boone’s Farm. My sister brought it home.
Oh! my Mogan David. I have had that probably before the Strawberry Boone’s Farm. Close to MD 20/20. Will get you fish faced.@ Austinland
First taste of alchohol was beer (bleh!)
First real drink was a screwdriver (mmmmm)
First real “drunk” was bourbon and coke (not so good)
First real near-death experience with alchohol was tequila (took 20 years to recover)
Favorite: champagne
Champagne, probley Mumm’s or something.
first drink was keg beer michelob… not bad
today my poison would be vodka tonic
Jagermeister. I was at my sister’s 18th birthday party; I was 16.
I don’t have a favorite alcoholic drink. They all taste pretty bad to me.
Creme d’ cocoa & milk. My Pops let us kids have a glass at xmas time.
Little did he know what he started XD
My first drink was Johnnie Walker Black Label Whiskey. Burned like sin. My friend and I were 16, and thought we could pass for 21 at a Las Vegas concert by an unknown band at the time (the Doobie Bros.). I hated it, and didn’t drink anything alcoholic, except Champaigne, till I turned 21.
My favorite drink in a Scorpion. Lots of Rum, lots of fruit juice.
I don’t remember my first drink at all. Probably something crappy and high school. Maybe a screwdriver with cheap vodka.
These days my favorite drink is Knob Creek bourbon neat.
@frenchfry Ohhhh, sweet nectar Boone’s Farm. Ever etched into my underage memories.
I’d forgotten that my verrrry first drink was when I was 4 or 5 and I kept bugging my mom about her beer…what was ittttt, can I tassssste iiiiiit. Finally she let me and after one sip I shut up about beer for about 12 more years. Such a vivid memory after all these years!
first – fruit punch and vodka
best – traditional sazerac at Cole’s French Dip, downtown LA
Root beer! (non-alcoholic)
I cannot believe no one has said Zima yet. With a Jolly Rancher in it. Classy. And I’ll second that Strawberry Boonsfarm, and B&J fuzzy navel. My 13th year was a mess of sugary alcohol experimentation.
I don’t think I have a favorite now. It depends on the occasion. Blueberry Stoli and soda, maybe, but they go down too easily.
