The iPhone 4 has a Lithium-ion battery.

The difference is mainly the manner in which the electrolyte is held. Li-po packs are a variation of Li-ion packs that are easier to make into various shapes but have a few quirks and are less mature technology.

searching amazon for a replacement iphone 4 battery returns this: http://www.amazon.com/Internal-Battery-iphone-Replacement-1420Mah/dp/B00404XIEM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1287806884&sr=8-2
it lists it as li-ion polymer battery.
