Is there a way to tell whether or not a mod is online?

Sometimes a mod will hang out in the chat. Also, you can try PM’ng them en masse.

Not really.
I had suggested before that they implement some kind of “X mods are online now” feature, but because this is a volunteer job, all of us are multitasking between other things, and thus may not be at the computer even if we’re online. And we don’t want to tease people.

You can peek into the chatrooms (If you go to this page, you can see a list of users online) and see if any mod is there. I’m pretty consistently online.
Or you can shoot an email via the Contact button.

I’m always here at 3AM, pretty much.

I’d really like to see a “contact a mod” button on the site.

I’ve never had any issues with contacting a mod, though I’ve rarely needed one. I just flag things. Maybe I don’t have an issue because I am in chat often. :/

3 am seems to be covered, it’s the weekends that need help.

I am usually lurking during the morning 6–5p pst. I also pop in and out at odd hours outside of that time frame.

I was hoping to staff the Tidepool Chat Help. Maybe I should start hanging in there again.

I’m around 85–90% of the time :)

I sometimes am multitasking but I pretty much always have Fluther and Fluther email open.

I know it sounds funny but when not actually on line at a desktop computer I have my iPhone on and check in.
A lot of my moderation work is done via iPhone in random places. ;)

I take it back. I flagged something like, 10 minutes ago,and mods have STILL not taken care of it. Clearly, 4:50 am is NOT taken care of….

Thanks for sending me the link via PM, @papayalily. I actually did see your flag at the time, and checked out the question. I just didn’t feel it was removable. So, 4:50AM is covered! :)

OH I was on that night.

I saw that flag when it first came in. While the question was not the greatest it was passable so it stayed.

Contrary to what some might think we really do try to keep as many questions active as possible without lowering standards.
