Just wondering if it’s possible to see how many Fluther members there are and/or how many are online. If not, why not?

Just give me your social security number, credit card info and/or bank account and routing numbers. Just kidding, the number of members isn’t really a number we share.
Ok ..was just wondering if it was public or not. Thank you :)
@timtrueman you didn’t explain why not?. Especially how many are on-line. It would be interesting to know.
Count how many have won the easiest awards like “Jelly Asker.”
Of course not all may be active at this time . . .
@timtrueman I bet you share it with the CIA
@AmWiser obviously you have to hack their servers. heh heh heh
Hmm, good suggestion @anartist…gives an average at least though.
Why not? Because it’s not something you need to know and it’s competitive data we’d rather not share with our competition.
@timtrueman Thank you. But because it’s not something you need to know…... just a simple we’d rather not share with our competition would have sufficed. Again, thank you.
I meant only that it’s not critical to the Q&A experience, not that we are mean or anything snooty. We focus on trying to build the best experience for you guys and anything not critical to that usually gets in the way.
Thank you @timtrueman ..I like that answer better ^
Lol .. the first one felt like I was snapped at (before you edited it).
There are no members. It is all in your mind.
Ohh ChazMaz… it figures. You must be one of the ones that pop out of the dusty corners of my mind once in awhile. I’m thinking the naughty one ;P
In addition to @timtrueman‘s answer of “The data is my precious! preeeeciousssss”, it’s hard to really count it. Do you just want a plain number of how many people visit the site? There are a lot of lurkers (or people who find the site via google, get their answer, and don’t bother signing up). You can see some data on quantcast about that.
Otherwise, you may want to look at the Awards page.
Just check out the kind of awards and how many people have gotten them to get a better idea of the size of the community. Sure, 18k people have written an answer on the site. But ~3k people have surpassed 100 lurve.
I’d like to think that, given the amount of hours I spend on this site, I count as at least 5 members.
“need to know basis only”.
Thank you ..I was just curious how big the “regular” Fluther community was. I wasn’t looking at it from a competitive or business stand point at all. It makes sense why it isn’t public ..from what I’ve read in this topic now.
I thought someone posted earlier that there are approx 10 thousand members.
