In terms of smaller buildings, some of the brownstones in Park Slope and on the East Side of Manhattan are quite beautiful as well. I’m also partial to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Guggenheim Museum.
I have always loved the Chrysler Building.
There’s little question that the Chrysler Building is the most beautiful, most iconic of NYCs landmark buildings. The Plaza Hotel is also pretty stunning, and though I can’t recall its name, the creepy building just west of Central Park that they used in Ghostbusters is pretty freaking sweet as well.
Actually the most beautiful building in all of New York is at 7th ave and 58th street in Manhattan. It’s very ornately carved. I’m trying to find an image of it, but the address is 911 7th avenue, which is making a search kind of difficult.
@breedmitch I have a friedn that lives on 58th between 7th and 8th and I think I know exactly the building you’re talking about. I’ll help with the search.
Thanks, Ivan. It has the Perrossian Boutique in the street level. There’s a pretty good google maps streetview, but I can’t figure out how to link from my phone.
Other than the Chrysler building, I don’t know enough about New York architecture.
Here’s some of my favorites:
The Gamble House in Pasadena, CA
The Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
Taliesen West in Scottsdale, AZ
Falling Water in Mill Run, PA
The Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA
The Ahwanee Hotel in Yosemite, CA
The Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA
The Encounter Restaurant at Los Angeles International Airport, Los Angeles, CA
Nueschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany
I’m a fan of the Chrysler building in NYC. Whenever I see it coming from the airport, and always get a thrill—ah, New York!
the Chrysler Building looks pretty amazing to me.
Partial to the Empire State Building as it is where I met my husband but I also love the Flatiron Building at 23rd St and 5th Ave. And of course the Chrysler Building, definitely one of the most beautiful, iconic buildings in NYC.
