What would happen if my teacher from my online class failed to communicate with his students?

Asked by chelle21689 (7907points) October 29th, 2010

I’m taking an online class and a midterm exam is due Sunday. He posted the information on Wednesday of what he expected on the paper. Instructions were unclear and I know I’m not the only one because many students on the discussion board were confused.

The discussion board is “Ask the Instructor” where he answers all of our questions but he hasn’t. I have e-mailed him and have not received a response. He never returns my phone calls whenever I try to reach him, and it’s not possible to go to his office since it’s the weekend.

I have two days to work on this paper, and I’m afraid I won’t get it done in time or even right when he’s not even responding! All the students are clueless.

You write the paper to the best of your understanding. You turn it in. BUT, you make a copy of that with your concerns and your questions along with a print out of the other students concerns and questions and you forward this to the dean of your department and ask that the matter be looked into.

Is there any way for you to contact the school? While it’s unlikely, he could have had some kind of issue come up where he has been unable to get in touch with you guys. The school should be aware of anything like that and might even be able to get you in touch with him if that is not the case.

Just write a paper, hope for the best. Shit happens.
If you’re really stressed, look at the answers above mine. But really, you have essentially a day to do this. I wouldn’t waste the time trying to locate him.

I would just try to really cover my bases in the assignment and work towards as many different interpretations I could think of just in case. Doing that kind of work has never given me less than an A. It freaks you out until you overachieve.

Then make a note to never take that course or any course he is teaching again.

Really to whom much is given much is expected from him or her.Well, due to the level and nature of his service, the lecturer ought to have an alternative way communicating vise versa considering the money paid for the course, and the need for the student success likewise.Well, try as much as possible to go online for more information and the school should have have a means for detecting defaulting lecturers in their services to students.

Sounds like a sticky situation. I like @Joybird‘s suggestion. You have an advantage because the whole class is being affected by the lack of clarity. Hopefully, they will all respectfully express their woes, too. Go with your gut, explain your problems, and if the professor still doesn’t understand, go to higher authorities. Good luck!

I am actually going to school online and in reality its part of the deal, I have gone through the same predicament… One thing you can do is write the paper to the best of your ability and turn it in, because you know you cant turn finals late, regardless, but if you turned all your information throughout the course then you should be fine when it comes to your final grade… i would just ask my other classmates questions because maybe you can help each other… One time i got into a predicament where I lost contact for 2 weeks straight but with the help of a few classmates I actually got a A on my final.. good luck
