Finally, the first rain... and its wonderous smell. What smells send you back and where do you go?

Asked by seazen (6123points) October 30th, 2010

I don’t like the rain in general – I’m not one of those who puddle jump and skip through the raindrops. I just see it as wet, grey and not sun – which I worship.

But that first rain’s smell… that’s a different story. Sometimes it sends me to walks in the forest, sometimes it’s melancholy and saddens me – but it’s always clean and fresh and gives me hope for brighter things to come.

The scent of fresh pine trees reminds me of camping with my father in Colorado. I go to Christmas tree lots just to breathe the air and bring back those memories.
