The Emporer’s March from Star Wars as I am lowered into the ground.

@iamthemob Too funny. That would be great.

I want the same thing that we did for my dad, at his memorial service. He was cremated, so no lowering into the ground. We played music throughout the memorial, all his favorite songs, from various artist. Music from the 50’s to the 2000’s. The best part, we all have a copy of this cd, it’s nice to have around when I’m really missing him.

I must have some 80’s hairbands, 90’s grunge and all the other stuff I like. I like such a variety of music, it would be interesting to say the least.

I Am What I Am from La Cage Aux Folles. I don’t want any songs about death or light or rememberance. I may settle for changing the lyrics to ‘I was what I was’ if that is more suitable.

Start of with Mozart’s Requiem Mass to set the sad mood. Follow it up with Carl Sagan Pale Blue Dot

Then finish it all off with these songs:

Living In a Box – Living In a Box
Another One Bites The Dust – Queen
End Of the Road – Boys To men
If Tommorow Comes – Ronan Keating
Going Underground – The Jam
Staying Alive – The Bee Gees
Going Nowhere – Oasis.

and if it was suicide rather than a natural death, play Jump – Van halen

There won’t be a funeral service if my wishes are carried out. If anyone wants to play a song in my honor, may it be Cat Steven’s version of Morning Has Broken.

Rest in Pieces, by Misanthrope

@Pied_Pfeffer Not even a secular service?

I think, His Eye is on the Sparrow for starters. lol I hope thats the title, anyway.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

I’m with @Pied_Pfeffer. I do not want a funeral.

“Angel” by Aretha Franklin . . . listen to it before you think I’m a narcissistic douche :)

@downtide I hope to be living in England with my SO when I kick the bucket. We are both uncomfortable when it comes to personal tributes, although we’ll attend those of friends and family. We both want to be cremated, and I would like that our ashes be spread together in the woods or a field once both of us are gone. Children aren’t part of our plan; otherwise, there might be a different plan.

I would like Elton John’s Funeral For a Friend played on a kazoo. Thank you Vunessuh for offering. ;)

No music. Music in my opinion is a form of brain washing it controls your feelings. If there is an after life I want to look down and see people crying because they genuinely miss me not because a sad song is on.

I have said for years, @jonsblond will back me up on this, that throughout my visitation Sir Mix-A-Lot’s Baby’s Got Back will be played softly, on an endless loop, during the entire proceedings.

“In My Life” by the Beatles.
U2’s “Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own”,
“There Will be a Day” by Jeremy Camp.

If only one, definitely “In My Life.”

Wake Me Up Before You Go Go…......reincarnation, it’s a thought!

perg's avatar

I’m also with @Pied_Pfeffer. I don’t care whether I have a funeral or not. I won’t be there. So whoever wants to have a service can have one and play whatever they please.

downtide's avatar

@perg This was going to be my answer too. I’d like there to be music, but I’d like my friends and family to choose it.

or more appropriately
Time to Say Goodbye by Sarah Silverman & Andrea Bocelli

If…
– the death is natural/accidental: Forever by Breaking Benjamin
– the death is murder-related: Lullaby For A Dead Man by Elena Siegman
– the death is suicide-related: Spring by Rammstein

I want “Exquisite Dead Guy” by They Might Be Giants performed at my funeral. My wife wants “Highway to Hell” by AC/DC played at hers (she plans on being cremated).
