Chest pains what do I do?

Asked by Vincent_Lloyd (3007points) November 2nd, 2010

okay…So lately sorta I’ve been having these chest pains, maybe heart pains I don’t really know. But uh I don’t know what to do. Is it something serious? I’ve been having to stop for a brief moment and regain consciousness since everything just gets blurry sometimes… Is this something serious? I’ve been having many other issues with myself too, but I don’t feel like getting into the fill detail…

GET YOUR ASS TO THE ER RIGHT NOW FOR A EKG. I’m not kidding. I was where you are last summer. I should add that I was 32. Not a old ass man.

Are you having any trouble breathing? I can’t feel what you’re feeling, so I can’t say for sure, but if you’re really having chest pain, I seriously suggest calling 911. If you have to stop and rest and it gets better, that doesn’t mean it’s nothing. It could very well be angina, which is caused when there is limited blood flow to the heart muscle. If blood flow is blocked completely and tissue dies, that is a heart attack.

Long story short: seek medical attention. I suggest calling 911, or get someone to drive you to the ER.

You’re 13, right? Tell your parents.

well I have a breathing condition already. I have a small tracheal so it can be hard to breathe? Maybe that’s why? I’m not too sure about it.

It could be psychosomatic but it could also be SERIOUS. Get yourself to ER SOON!

You roll the dice when you play craps. Not when you have chest pains.

Talk to you mom.

It may be anxiety, but it could also be other things.
Tell your parents immediately :)))

You’re a kid; talk to your parents.

Please don’t ignore your body. When your body does something like this it is telling you something is wrong. I have had chest pains and went into the ER and found it was not my chest but other things that I’m being treated for. Go to your parents and tell them exactly what is going on and that you are worried about it.

Even with an existing condition, it could be worsening. Tell your parents what has been happening and get them to make you an appointment as soon as possible.

Log off, call 911, and tell them you are having heart problems. Do it NOW!

@johnpowell, what did it turn out to be for you?

Kardamom's avatar

Having chest pains is one fo the MAIN reasons to get to an emergency room right away. The reason being is if it is a heart attack (symptoms vary from person to person) they can save your life with medications, but if you don’t go, you could die.

See a doctor get fixed and go fishing.

or pretend that not seeing a doctor makes you more of a man.

So—how did this turn out, @Vincent_Lloyd?

Vincent_Lloyd's avatar

Still having them, but my mom is coming home tomorrow so she’s going to set up an appointment hopefully. I wouldn’t be able to go tomorrow since my mom wouldn’t be home anyways and I have a concert at a high school so either way it wouldn’t work out.

@Vincent_Lloyd

I only pray that will not be too late. You don’t seem to be taking this as seriously as is warranted.

Vincent_Lloyd's avatar

Well I am, just I can’t do anything right now since I don’t have power too, but my mom is going to take me in to the doctor pretty soon…. She’s staying home for the remainder of the month, so hopefully nothing is serious about this.

Seaofclouds's avatar

@Vincent_Lloyd So your mom leaves you alone for long periods of time with no access to medical care should you need it? In the future, if you have chest pains, call 911 and have them take you to the ER. They can worry about the logistics of getting in touch with your parents and getting permission while making sure you are stable.

@Vincent_Lloyd, do you carry your own insurance card? You should. Your mother’s insurance company can supply a card that shows your parents’ plan number, contact phone numbers for the plan administrators, etc. Keep it with you. Whether you get taken in with chest pains or get knocked off your bike in front of the school, everything will be easier if you have it with you when you’re admitted.

Well I mean my sisters are here but one is out with her friends or at work, or just not here in general, and the other is always at work but she already knows about it. But she said to let her know if it’s gotten so bad where something happens. But uhm…I have a medical card I think it’s blue cross I have. But since mommy is here, she is going to take me in, so hopefully this week. I want to thank you guys all for your concern on me I really appreciate it :)
