With the defeat of Christine O'Donnell does it concern you that, once again, we have a Congress where not a single person has been willing to come out and openly state, for the record, that he or she is not a witch or warlock?

Ding Dong! The Not a Witch is dead.
Which old Not a Witch?
The Wicked Not a Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Not a Witch is dead.
Wake up – sleepy head,
rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Not a Witch is dead.
She’s gone where the goblins go,
Below – below – below.
Yo-ho, let’s open up and sing
and ring the bells out.
Ding Dong’ the merry-oh,
sing it high, sing it low.
Let them know
The Wicked Not a Witch is dead!

Mayor:
As Mayor of the Munchkin City,
In the County of the Land of Oz,
I welcome you most regally
.
Barrister:
But we’ve got to verify it legally, to see

Mayor:
To see?

Barrister:
If she

Mayor:
If she?

Barrister:
Is morally, ethic’lly

Father No.1:
Spiritually, physically

Father No. 2:
Positively, absolutely

Munchkins:
Undeniably and reliably Dead

Coroner:
As Coroner I must aver,
I thoroughly examined her.
And she’s not only merely dead,
she’s really most sincerely dead.

Mayor:
Then this is a day of Independence
For all the Munchkins
and their descendants

Barrister:
If any.

Mayor:
Yes, let the joyous news be spread
The wicked Old Not a Witch at last is dead

Sorry! I’m from Delaware. I feel like I’m entitled to a little happy dance!

Considering there are some things I am not so happy about.

I’m doing the happy dance with you!

As far as your actual question, I don’t care if they are a witch or warlock as long as they do their job and do it right and aren’t Christine O’Donnell!

I would really like to see some witches in Congress. Or any other religion, for that matter. Right now the choices are pretty much Protestant with the occasional Catholic and a few Jews.

Lurve for singing a Wizard of Oz song in your question :))

I laughed, howled (and peed a little) reading your question! We have a Congress of muggles.

lillycoyote's avatar

@Blueroses We may or we may not but how do we know, if none of them have the guts or the backbone to just come out and say it! :-)

Blueroses's avatar

I say make OWLs mandatory before the swearing in ceremonies.

I love this question.

I was very, very happy to see that she lost. However, I was also quite saddened that it wasn’t by a larger margin. How could that many people vote for that woman? WTF?

@augustlan Delaware’s kind of a weird little state. It’s very small, with only a little less than 900.000 people, last I looked. The northern part of the state is very northern and more liberal and the southern part of the state is very southern and more conservative. Most of her support came from the southern, conservative part of the state. There should be something in the paper tomorrow with a more detailed analysis of the way it played out.

Also, this election, the one to fill Joe Biden’s vacant senate seat, was supposed to be a race between the son, Beau Biden (D) and Mike Castle®, our long-term Representative. Beau Biden pulled out of the race early this year and then there was the O’Donnell upset over Castle in the primary and that just opened everything up in a way no one could have predicted, I don’t think. Delaware politics, because the state is so small; well, the politics here are pretty incestuous, and fairly predictable. The O’Donnell thing just put a real monkey wrench in all of it. But, she was defeated, that’s what counts, at least to me, as a resident of the state, as someone who faced a very real possibility that Christine O’Donnell might be representing my state in the Senate. Dodged a bullet there, IMHO.

Witches are the least of our problems:

WASHINGTON – A space alien who stunned the world by revealing that
five U.S. Senators were extraterrestrials in 1992 dropped another
bombshell when he met with President Bill Clinton in the White House just
days ago—and named seven more senators who hail from distant planets!

And far from denying the extraterrestrial’s allegations, Senators Phil
Gramm, Dennis DeConcini, John D. Rockefeller IV, Bennett Johnston,
Howell Heflin, Christopher Dodd, and William S. Cohen conceded that
“the time is right to make our true identities known.”

“Senators John Glenn, Orrin Hatch, Nancy Kassebaum, Sam Nunn, and
Alan Simpson came out of the alien closet two years ago and now we find
that seven more senators are not from Earth,” said author and UFO expert
Nathaniel Dean, who identified the first group of space alien senators in a
news conference that made international headlines in November 1992.

I’ve no idea who she is, but by the sounds of things a bucket of water was just thrown over her sorry arse. Cancel the press conference the witch…..Christine appears to have melted. Her last words were reported to be “what a world” x2!! On a related topic, if she be the wicked witch? Then who in U.S politics is Glinda? Just wondering! :¬)

@lillycoyote I think it’s kind of funny how divided the state can be between the north and south parts. I’ve lived in both and it’s really like a different place (especially when you get way down in Sussex County. Beau dropped because he knew he couldn’t beat Mike Castle. If Castle would have won the primary, he would have probably beat Coons, but since the Reps let O’Donnell in and she actually won the primary, she cost the Reps that seat.

I am doing a victory dance too and I live in the southwest. That woman’s comment on mice… was enough for me to not want her elected. (The full segment is here)

As for your question, no. In fact, it made me upset that she made “I am not a witch” a campaign slogan.

Iclamae's avatar

Also, that must have been a sad victory party

FutureMemory's avatar

@lillycoyote I’m so happy for you! She is truly pathetic.

lillycoyote's avatar

@Seaofclouds It’s definitely been a strange one. A Biden-Castle race was the still way was supposed to play out, at least that was what everyone thought about a year ago. And no one thought that O’Donnell would or could beat Castle in the primary. I like Castle though. He’s one of the very few Republicans that I have ever voted for. I’m not entirely sure how I would have gone in a Biden-Castle race myself.

@Iclamae You don’t think that the “I’m Not a Witch” ad campaign upset a lot of us here in Delaware? It was not only a little frightening that she seemed to find it necessary but it was embarassing to me as a resident of the State of Delaware. And yes the “mice with humans brains” thing was pretty scary too, along with her statements that she was privy to classified information that showed that China had a carefully thought out and strategic plan to take over America. All in a scary and baffling package.

@FutureMemory Thanks!:-)

And @ratboy, last but not least, Yes. It’s true! Here’s is photographic proof
that Clinton did meet with at least one alien.

And just curious… are you any relation to bat boy?

ratboy's avatar

@lillycoyote—second cousin thrice removed.

Iclamae's avatar

@lillycoyote I wasn’t really sure. To be honest, I hadn’t really heard anyone bring up the fact that it was insulting to people involved in wicca, though admittedly, I don’t watch a lot of news. (read the paper mostly).
Also, wow, I hadn’t seen that. She… she is a special person and I hope she goes away from politics. We do not need another Sarah Palin or her dumber cousin.

lillycoyote's avatar

@Iclamae Yeah, who would have ever imagined the could be such a thing as Sarah Palin’s dumber cousin?

lillycoyote's avatar

@ratboy Cool. I was just curious, since you and bat boy have the same last name.

Iclamae's avatar

@lillycoyote I know. I was shocked too.
