Is anyone else having a problem with the "hide on profile" function?

I just want to make sure there’s no misunderstanding:
The “Hide on Profile” button was designed to add a little bit of customization to the “Greatest questions” and “Greatest answers” features. If you click “Hide on Profile” for something, it will not show up in those categories on your front page.
It will still (by design), however, show up if someone goes over to the Questions/Responses tab of your profile. It wasn’t designed to completely delete any traces of you having written that Question/Answer.
I tried with my own profile and the feature works as intended for me.

Would you say that you just had different expectations for the feature? Or, given the description I gave above, would you say that there’s still a bug in the system not making it work?

I’ve only used it once. To hide a question that I wished I hadn’t asked in the first place and a far as I know it worked. What are you trying to do with the “hid on profile” function?

@Sarcasm Oh ok. Yes after you explained it I had a different idea of how it would work. I expected it to be I guess invisible in my profile but be still shown in the categories somehow.

I also had a different idea of how it worked. I assumed the question would still be available if someone searched for it, but it would not be listed in my profile. I was so excited when I saw this feature and hid a few of my questions from when I first joined. Bummer. I was wrong as well. :(

It’s supposed to disappear totally from your profile (not from search or where ever the original question/answer lives on the site).

Clearly it’s a serious bug. We’ll fix it today.

This should be fixed now. I’m very sorry we screwed that up. We take privacy very seriously.

Can you guys confirm it’s working for you on both questions and answers?

Errr…. I just tried it with the my answers. I put hide on 1 question then logged out and searched my profile. Found my profile then clicked on answers and it came up with something like there no answers available.

@silvermoon Thanks. We just need to verify this works for someone that has their answers set to public.

@Sarcasm: Thanks for the heads up. I also had used the feature thinking it would hide some of my posts and comments from being seen in my history or from being Googled. It was my excited expectation that it would.
