Why does it always say that there is "1" in my "Activity For You", but then when I click.. there is nothing?

It never works. I don’t click that link anymore.

Mine works most of the time, but I’ve been noticing the same thing about 1 in 10 times. I think they’re just messin’ with us.

@johnpowell wow. I am much too obsessive to just leave it go, I have to clear everything as soon as “1” pops up.

Fluther is haunted. Didn’t you know?
I always just get private messages saying “booooooo”.

Do you have more than one Fluther tab open?

What bugs me is that I’ve always got 1000 ‘Questions for you’. And I don’t want to kill the entire list, but no amount of picking and answering (or ignoring or being not interested in) changes that number. (Yes, I realize that I’ve just exceeded a max total that stops counting at 1000, but it bugs me not to know how high that number really is.)

@CyanoticWasp grabbing the full count is very expensive and can slow down the whole site for everyone. Sorry :/

@timtrueman ; Sometimes I have more than one Fluther tab open, I’ll have to see if that’s the case.
And I still want to know how you guys do that screen capture thing

@timtrueman no, just one tab.
@Jill it’s a screen shot. You have to hit “print screen” on your keyboard, then open up an image program (perhaps Paint) and hit ctrl+V to paste onto a new image. Little more to cropping and whatnot, but I could better explain if I knew what you were using.

How many times would you say this has happened to you? And only recently?

@timtrueman I’m not sure how many times, maybe 5 or 10 in the last couple of weeks. It seems really sporadic.

@JilltheTooth why do you think so?

There’s a bunch of other stuff it doesn’t do, and the PrtSc button is only good for making a litle clicking noise. It’s six years old, was cheap to start with, and makes little grunting noises when I try to wake it up in the morning. <sigh> I’ll be retiring it soon, let it sleep the days away in the sun.

Well, it only works if you paste it somewhere. Have you tried that before?

What I meant was that some of the buttons don’t work at all anymore. It’s OK, when I get a new one I’ll learn all sorts of new stuff! I’m sure spilling the occasional cuppa joe onto the keyboard hasn’t enhanced performance much, either… :-)

I’ll look into to it. If you find a consistent way to reproduce the glitch let me know and we’ll fix it immediately.

Could it be that the question the “1” is referencing has been sent to editing between the time the “1” appeared and the time it was clicked on?

Auggie, it’s possible. Somehow seems unlikely that it would happen so often, but, I wouldn’t rule it out as a possibility.
