Do you subscribe to the "food is fuel" school of thought?

I’ve always felt food was more function than enjoyment. While I don’t knock other people for loving their foods or having favorites, I have never actually “enjoyed”, “craved” a food. I know some people do but the concept was always foreign to me. What about you?

Food itself can be enjoyed, but eating with others is one of the great human social activities.
I LOVE food, but I am picky about what I eat for “fuel” purposes, mostly pertaining to making sure I eat enough because of the regular working out that I do. I agree with CWilbur that it’s a great time to socialize. Pure and simple….food brings people together. Cannot have masses of people together without FOOD. :) I certainly enjoyed that 9oz center cut filet from Outback last night. I craved it (drooling) and was savored every bite. :)
I go back and forth on this one. There are foods that I really enjoy, but I don’t have much of an appetite most of the time, so I eat mainly because I know I need it.
Its very much for function rather than enjoyment for me. But I try my best to enjoy what I can when I can.
Eating, ultimately, is a chore.
Yes it is…remember garbage in garbage out
I am a middle-grounder on this one! I definitely crave food, but usually because my body is telling me that I need something specific, ie cheesy things when I need protein, a hamburger when I need more iron etc. I also really love dessert though, and I doubt that’s a bodily need. I think it’s OK to see food as something pleasurable as long as you understand restraint.
wow, i love food. sometimes I think my day is centered around it. I am always looking forward to lunch and dinner..not necessarily because I’m hungry..I just enjoy tasting and eating food. i crave different things depending on the season, people i’m with, time of day, etc.
it’s foreign to me that some people don’t enjoy food. not to sound too sarcastic, but maybe the stuff you non-eaters are forcing yourself to eat just isn’t very good. maybe it is a cultural thing…food is a big part of my culture here in the South. when my friends and family organize time to get together, it usually centers around a meal.
unfortunately, the stuff that tastes really good is usually the most un-healthy…but, as long as it is eaten in moderation, it can be controlled.
I really love fruits and vegetables. I have a smile on my face every time I eat them.
