How to change my real name on Colloquy?

Asked by troubleinharlem (7999points) November 5th, 2010

Okay, so I was stupid and used my real name to register with IRC (I know, don’t even tell me, I know that it was really stupid of me), so when people click my name they could see my real name if they wanted to.

How can I change this? I searched some forums and they were like: type “setenv IRCNAME “what you would like to appear”, but I don’t know where to put that. I’m also using my Mac, which might change some stuff around. Is there any way for me to change my “real name” on the get info part without using my username?

Here’s a help desk ticket from colloquy on this topic. Have you tried what’s suggested? Apparently you cannot delete your user name, but can change it. After changing you need to restart in order for the change to take effect.

1. Open up the connections window if it isn’t already (⌘1)
2. right-click or command-click the server you want to change your information on.
3. choose “get info”
4. add/edit the information to your liking, including “Real Name”
