So the in laws will get along.
In the 17 and 1800’s, people would often live far away from each other with little interaction. The only people for them to marry were their cousins.
this is very common in many parts of the world. mainly, its because of disputes or alliances between families. i dont mean to take away power from women, but a man could offer his sister to his cousin which shows that the get along and they can count on each other. also, in less traditional areas of the world, it just means “id rather marry my cousin than you, and have to deal with your family”.
Because inheritance stays “in the family”.
I Agree with Eambos but if you want to use one of the most commenly used words in the english language at least spell it correctly cousins.
