What are some of life's little pleasures that make it worth living?
This is sort of in response to why is life so hard. What do you enjoy that keeps you going on a rough day, or puts a smile on your face anytime? Someone special calling you darlin, a nice debate, good food, good wine. Spending time with family or friends. What does it for you you?

Just to name a few.
I abide by @coloma’s philosophy. Every day brings something wonderful. Today, for example, I am staring at the remnants of yesterday’s snow and sleet; temp. is 32˚ and it’s raining.
So, I get to eat my homemade soup, feel gratitude for a good car, the ability to renew my passport at the local little postoffice (including getting photos), buy some free range eggs from the
country store and have a bite of lunch at Ralph’s Pretty Good Café ( where I will either know people or recognize them).
And wait with pleasure for @Janbb’s upcoming morsel.
Knowing there are people who love me and care about me no matter what life throws our way….makes getting up and doing it again and again and again very doable!
Talking to my friends, walks, really good French fries (the kind you hardly ever get any more), comfort from my spouse, hot baths, and putting on a flannel nightgown to read at the end of a hard day.
Oh – and of course, Jake.
First and foremost it is my dogs. From the minute I awake and see their tails wagging, to the satisfaction I get when I see them playing in the garden and eventually see them settling down to sleep. They put a smile on my face 24/7.
A lovely hot bath, with candles all around… oh and a nice glass of wine while I am bathing.
Snuggling down on the sofa at night when the heating is turned right up.
Talking to my daughter, seeing the sun coming through my funky little stained glass window in the morning while I drink my coffee, and anything that makes me laugh out loud.
When I can get together with my family and it feels like old (good) times.
(1) That I woke up this morning.
(2) Late-night texts with loveyous.
(3) Breakfast (and thinking of six impossible things prior to eating it)
(4) Winter (it’s finally colder here!)
(5) Family (watching last night’s Conan with my brothers.)
(6) Music (listening, producing, appreciating)
That today is only just beginning and I will collect a long list of wonderful things.
Tasty cheese, a sea breeze, a little squeeze, with a touch of sleaze.
Seeing the “Messages for You” in bold. It’s like a box of chocolates.
A long walk or a new art project does it for me :)
Great talks with friends, snuggling in the covers while it is cold out, having my dog lie next to me with his head on my leg, looking at the beauty of the fall leaves on the trees.
um…wine…just wine..full. bodied. deep. dark. red. wine.

Living for today. Nothing else you can do. So might as well make the best of it.
And, my dog jumping on my bed in the morning and kicking my ass.
That little shit!
napping in the sun
pets
swimming in the ocean
lazy afternoons
friends
I could go on and on…
The taste of chocolate covered strawberries being eaten on a warm outside picnic day. Oh, how about when it’s a warm day and the wind gently caresses your face, or the feel of dewy grass under my barefeet. (:
Time spent withmy kids. Coffee in the morning and leisure to drink it slowly. Coming home to a warm house when it is cold outside. Having all my house work and school work done and time to read a book.
The smell of napalm in the morning? (Sorry, I just had my Diet Cherry Coke for the day.)
Candles, hot bath, glass of wine and a good book.

Yeah, that about sums it up.
A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.

The smell of fresh cut grass. Watching my son figure out something new. Listening to my daughter talk about her latest crush. Rolling over and seeing my husband’s face, first thing in the morning. The nudges my dogs give me and their wagging tails. Curling up in my favorite chair and reading a good book. Homemade marshmallows in a good cup of hot cocoa.
@cak homemade marshmallows WOAH. i love mini marshmallows in my hot chocolate…tons of them….homemade i’m sure would take that to a whole new level. if only i knew what marshmallows WERE…..lol
@deni – I’ll have to find the recipe and give it to you. They are creamier and just on a whole new level.
@deni – link Yes, it’s from Martha Stewart, but I do like the recipe. I’ve used it many times and for several years. I don’t always use the vanilla beans and use confectioner’s sugar for my knife or cookie cutters to cut the marshmallows. Follow the directions and they will come out just right, I’ve had a batch come out wrong when I’ve rushed something…I think the gelatin part.
Hearing “I love you” from someone that really means it.
hearing “you were right” from someone that really means it ain’t bad either
Napping in the afternoon with the window open and a cool breeze
Freshly squeezed lemonade with crushed ice
Clean soft bedding
Clean lotioned body
A charred/rare grilled steak
A drive to nowhere
Holding hands
Someone who loves you back saying you’re the best thing ever happened to them.
A daily pleasure for me now is to read @cak‘s lively and life-affirming comments. I love that she has enough energy to make her own marshmallows.
@gailcalled I think that, as well, when I see her posting here and there. :)
@mama_cakes: In addition to that, I took a pretty good passport photo this morning.
@gailcalled I cheated a couple of times, child labor…my daughter! It was one of those “life gives you lemons, make lemonade” moments. We now have something we both enjoy doing and she likes to teach other people how to make them; however, sometimes I feel like my kitchen is more of a laboratory than an actual kitchen.
My passport photo isn’t so great, it could pass as a mugshot!
Today’s pleasure…seing @cak use the semicolon perfectly, in spite of her complaining about brain fog.
@janbb;How many times do I have to explain the difference between grammar and punctuation to you? I’m speaking of a high colonic. Love, Milo
