Is this a cover question for bashing religion? Personally, I’m sure his heart is in the right place, but I doubt he converts many folks. I could do it, but I’m not going to bash religion here. There are plenty of other people who can do that for me. I never even would have answered this questions except I had no idea who Pat Condell is, and I wanted to find out. Being here, I thought I’d throw in a few pence.

I dislike him for his over zealous attacks on Muslims and his BNP mindset.

The youtube atheism “community” is something im quite familiar with, I have been watching Pat Condell’s videos since he started making them on youtube. I would say he does not really make videos about religion, He has a few that are about religion in general, but for the most part he is just anti Islam.

The man is a bigoted idiot with a one track mind and a single agenda, and only supporters or extremist right wing political parties like the BNP take him seriously. He is one of these people who thinks “Muslim = Arab” and “Arab = Muslim”. He is basically a racist in rational man’s clothing.

If you hang around for a while watching religion and atheism videos on youtube you will soon find out that the vast majority of atheists want nothing to do with him. His arguments have been debunked time and time again, yet he keeps pushing them like some cheap propaganda.

This man is one of my personal heroes. I can’t stress enough how much I agree with his particular approach to atheism.

Following my little attack on him, I think I should just clear something up. like @FutureMemory has mentioned, his approach to atheism is actually not too bad. He is the kind of person who says “dont push your religion on me and ill leave you alone”. The problem is he is very inconsistent with that claim, because he is not leaving anyone alone at all. He is uploading videos to youtube preaching his ideology.

For example, he made a video about the so called “ground zero mosque”. A thing that is actually further away from him then Mecca actually is. So its quite obvious that his philosophy is really “you leave me alone, and ill go out of my way to attack you”.

Just to be clear, I hate Islam. I think it is brutal, barbaric and backwards, But i understand that Islam is made up of many races. There are muslims in Africa and Pakistan, as well as there being white muslims, asian muslims and muslims of all colors shapes and sizes. But Pat Condell seems to think Islam is exclusively a middle east thing, if he does not think it, he at least acts like it.

He has never gone as far as to say “all muslims are terrorists”. but he does act like he thinks that. And while he wants no one to impose anything on him, he is more than willing to make videos calling for banning the burqa and trying to impose things on others.

The ideology “leave me alone and ill leave you alone” that some atheists have is an ok ideology to have. but when Pat says it, he says it the same way a racist says “I have black friends”. He seems to do it just as a precaution or get-out clause.

When he says “dont push your religion on me and ill leave you alone” he is really saying “once all religion is gone forever ill shut up, but in the mean time, lets act like i mean something else”.

Nothing wrong with somebody speaking their mind. Or Is there?

I wouldn’t associate Pat Condell with the BNP with his Zionist tendencies.
He also has it in for Tom Cruise.
