How can I make my car window roll up faster?
It’s powered, but painfully slow. I’d like to not have to take the panel off and do anything major…

Buy a new battery. or, better still, buy a new car.
You’d probably have to replace the motor. Or make sure the gear thing still has all it’s teeth, although it’d be kind of jerky if it didn’t.
Or add a turbo to it.
What make/year car is it. Some cars have relay that switches the current tot he motor. It can get dirty .
But most likely it is one of two things: the window regulator is rusted and the spring is shot or the motor.is worn out – brushes burned out. Unless you are wiling to drill a hole and look in there with a scope, you will have to take the panel off. Yuk.
Yeah, I have the same problem… My mech said it’s the motor. The “brushes” inside are worn out… Short of replacing the motor, the only only other thing one can do is lubricate the ends of the glass (where it meets the rubber) with WD-40 or liquid dishwasher detergent. This reduce the friction, but if the motor is going bad, that won’t help much.
I have to go with a lack of lubrication being the culprit here. I’ve had issues rolling many a manual window due to old/missing lube.
To do it right, there really isn’t much that you can do that works unless you are willing to take off the door panel to gain access to what needs attention. While @Bagardbilla‘s suggestion may help some, it is less effective than just attacking the door’s innards with a can of WD-40.
i have the same problem in my 91 topaz hahaha you have to give it some help and push the window up as you press the up button to roll it up faster.
cover me, I’m goin’ in!
Thanx for all the helpful hints, but it looks like I gotta take off the panel to solve it.
the pushing of the window did not help? That never fails! haha
