It's Veteran's Day. Does anybody have a nice little something to say about your favorite veteran and/or active service member(like "Thanks")?

Asked by JilltheTooth (19792points) November 11th, 2010

Pretty much just that.

Thanks to all, especially my Dad who was a Marine fighting in the Pacific Theater in WWII, my cousin who was in Vietnam, my sister who was in the Air Force and cared for the Iran hostages after their release in 1981, and my nephew who is a Marine and did a tour in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.

It’s Armistice Day here in the UK. We stopped at 11am and had two minutes silence to remember the fallen.

I am eternally grateful to anyone who has worn the uniform and to the family members who stand by their side as well. Thank you and God bless!

I would like to thank all my coworkers (which includes the entire Air Force, because we are all in this together). Especially my father-in-law who convinced me to join and served 26 years.

I’d like to thank all of our vets, past and present, with a special thanks to my husband. The things they do and see sometimes are unimaginable to most of us, yet they do it, and keep doing it.

Thank you!

I have vets in my family going all the way to the Revolutionary War up to the present. But today, I’ll limit my thanks to the following for brevity:

I’d like to thank my Grandfather, who served in WWI. I’d also like to thank my Dad, who served in the Merchant Marines in WWII, then joined the Army and served in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam as a Lt. Col with the Green Berets. Also, my brother, who served as a Navy F-14 RIO in Desert Storm, my sister who is also a Navy vet formerly serving at the Pentagon, my boyfriend’s brother who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and all of my many friends who served with the 101st Airborne. Most of all, my adorable boyfriend, who is an U.S. Army Desert Storm veteran.

I’d also like to thank my Mom, who pretty much singled-handedly raised seven kids while my Dad served his almost 32 years in the army. She’s as much a veteran as he is.

Happy Veteran’s Day to all our Jelly vets. Thank you for your service to us all.

My stepfather (for all intents and purposes, he’s my dad) served in Nam. He received the Purple Heart for being shot in the head. He’s a beautiful person and a wonderful father. Thank God for the dream he had that saved his life! I can’t imagine not having him as a dad.

A big thanks to all our Vets.

DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A veteran – whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve – is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The ‘United States of America’, for an amount of ‘up to and including my life.’
