Mi computer running Windows 7 64 bit starts up to the logon screen, and then either freezes with the cursor and background, or the background and please wait. Once it got to the logon icons and I got to the user password but then it froze. WHAT DO I DO?
Also sometimes I try to start it and the lights and fan turn on, then it shuts off, then it starts and I am able to try stuff in the F8 menu.

The DHH Light and the little lightning bold aren’t flashing either.
I tried leaving it after it froze and it just shut off by itseld. no warning or anything.
The hard disk test failed at 46%!
What brand is the computer?
IT’s an HP Pavillion TX2 (Laptop)
Ok well if you can get to the screen that says boot options and everything (it should be either blu or black) hold down the F11 key. It will go into the system restore mode and you will want to select advanced mode. If you dont have an external hard drive big enough to fit all your stuff that you have saved on your computer or at least the stuff you want, you will loose everything. But the system restore should fix your problem and it will be like having a brand new computer. Good luck and if there is any more problems post it on here and i will check up on it.
so if I buy an external hard drive I will be able to back up my current one and then get my stuff back? I have lots of programs (mine and downloaded) videos, and other things that would be hard to get back.
Itunes and music too.
Yeah. During that system restore you will see an option to backup your files. Its hard to miss. But be careful about backing up those downloads. That may be whats causing the problem. It could be a virus in one of them. So i wouldnt backup anything i downloaded in the past couple weeks just to be safe. And if this does fix your problem, do NOT go back and download those same files. Find the same thing in a different file from a diffrent uploader.
Well the only thing I downloaded was a torrent of fruityloops and it was workinjg fine for like a week. Will I have to go and choose the files to backup.
Yeah. But its pretty easy and the restore wizard will guide you through how to do it.
Ok thanks! I’m so glad I you told me this.
(It will work with the factory installed OS, right? I didn’t get a disc.)
One last question, if I buy a 1TB hard drive with the restore manager partition it? (just curious)
Yeah it will work with windows 7 and i think it does partition it. If it wont then just use a freinds computer or something to partition it really quick then you should be fine.
Once again thank you so much! I also thank you for the knowledge I have just assimilates from you, and oplan to use it to help others. Thank you.
No problem and good luck with everything
