Good songs for acoustic guitar?

You can’t go wrong with the Beatles :-)

Heart of Gold is simple and uses 4 chords Em – C – G – D. It’s old and a bit boring but it may help you work on transitioning from one chord to another. If you’re not doing too bad with transitioning, try looking up a song you like and learning it. It makes it a bit more enjoyable when it’s something you actually like to listen to and sing along with.

I’m not skilled at playing any instruments at all, I can use a computer to make music, but no traditional instruments. However, I notice a lot of people who play acoustic guitar know how to play Come As You Are – Nirvana Maybe that means it’s not too hard to learn, and while its not exactly a happy song, it’s a good one.

Come As You Are is a great song to develop lead work and scale skills. Just because each finger is suppose to correspond to a fret as you move up and down the guitar. Index finger first fret, middle finger second fret and so on and so forth. It helps with the overall dexterity of the fingers and being able to pick out specific notes on a particular string.

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zepplin was one of the first acoustic songs I learned how to play.

@littlekori You can’t go wrong with any of the songs in the “folk” genre. Try listening to http://wumb.org/ and http://www.folkalley.com/ for many modern and traditional songs that broadly fall into “folk”. This includes blurgrass, country, traditional folk, celtic, traditional British folk to name a few.

Also, many non-acoustic songs can quite successfully be played “unplugged”.
