Sci-Fi cartoon remembered from childhood. Help to identify?

Australian/British accents.

Lone young man in spaceship trying to solve some sort of hunger crisis/food shortage on Earth.

Talking hen with a gaming dice around her neck.

Quasi Jean Grey/Phoenix story going on with the love interest.

Murky, I know.

Please help.

@Moegitto @crisw I saw this somewhere between 1990 and 1995, but it seemed older. when I watched Macross (the very first stuff) it reminded me of it quite a bit.

It was on network television in Dallas TX.

I got the feeling it was a standalone movie or OVA.

Checking Ulysses 300 now.
