When you dream when you're asleep, do those dreams (almost) always have people that you personally know?

Have you ever had a dream that had a celebrity, other recognizable being, or character that you didn’t personally know?
E.g., I once had a dream where I turned into Superboy and tried to attack Frankenstein’s monster.
Have you ever had a dream that had someone you didn’t know at all?
If your answer is yes to any of the above, what happened in some of those dreams?

Usually when I have dreams involving people I know the dream takes place at my school. They usally have classmates and rarely have any family members/adults. These dreams are pretty boring. I don’t often have these.
I sometimes dream about random people I’ve nver seen before. Or I’ve seen but don’t remember. These include side characters in movies and other people I’ve seen on streets. These are interesting. They involve death, games, love, all sorts of stuff I probably don’t remember too.
The other night I had a dream with Tim Lincecum in it. I’ll admit it, I have a crush on him. I think he’s adorable. Maybe that had something to do with him being in my dream.
I’ve had dreams with other jellies in them. Some that I have met, some that I haven’t. Some that I have met now, but hadn’t before I had the dream. (By the way, it’s kind of weird dreaming about people and then seeing them in real life having never seen them before.)
Typically though, the people in my dreams are friends, family members, or acquaintances. I emphasize people because a lot of my dreams have weird things like robots or talking plants or weird creatures I’ve made up in my head in them.
Since you asked, the dream I had the other night with Tim Lincecum in it also had @PnL and @J0E in it. We were sitting in some room that looked like a classroom around a round table. I was talking to Tim about traveling and he said something about how he wanted to go somewhere… NOW. So we all started trying to decide where to go. PnL kept throwing out completely random ideas like “the bottom of the sea” and she was super excited about ALL of them. J0E was too busy listening to holiday music and didn’t contribute much at all aside from declaring that if he couldn’t play his holiday music, then he wasn’t going. I’m not sure where we decided to go, but that was my dream.
A few years ago I had a dream that I was in a cooking contest with Paula Dean at an amusement park. The contest was about who could cook the best cheese. Go figure.:\
I had a dream I was with Han Solo on the ice planet Hoth looking for Imperial probe droids…most of my more memorable dreams involve Star Wars. Lately, though, it’s just been people I know at school. Go figure!
If there are people in my dream, 90% of the time they will be people I know. There have been a few times where random non-existent people have appeared in my dreams.
Yes, and that person is me.
Almost all of my dreams are the ones where you think you’re awake but you’re really not. It happens all the fucking time. They usually revolve around my phone. For instance, I’ll dream that I got a text in the night, and in my dream I reply to the text. When I wake up I look to see if I got a reply back, but I find that I never got one in the first place, and never responded to anything either. Another example is I’ll dream that I checked my phone to see what time it is, but when I wake up it will be before the time I saw in my dream.
It’s very annoying.
I once dreamed I was in a little cafe and Jeremy Clarkson was sitting at one of the other tables eating some kind of dessert, and he was saying, “Sauce Anglaise? It’s custard! It’s CUSTARD!” It was very, very strange.
Usually the people in my dreams are people I know personally.
I never dream about people that I know. There usualy are people that I think I know inside the dream.
For example: I am on a massive cruise ship that contains the entire English, French and Spanish speaking populations, located in their respective sections. The Spanish then turn on us and separate the entire French side of the ship from the main ship. That section then is left to sink. Then the same thing happens to the English/American side. While the Spanish side somehow remains afloat, the English side starts to sink with me on it. Then me and my friend (whom I don’t actually know) must escape using only yo-yo’s. We use the yo-yo’s to climb up the now vertical hallways and use the wielding torch (which I didn’t have ealier) to cut off part of the bow of the boat to make our own mini-boat , which we escape in.
sorry for all of the typos
I only have dreams with people I personally know in them. I mostly dream of myself and one other person in many different scenarios.
Most of my dreams involve people I don’t know. The only one I remember is the in which I meet my wife, who actually looked nothing like the woman I actually married. So much for the predictive capability of dreams.
My dreams almost never contain people I know, I don’t think.

Tim and his mound moves are both joys to behold, that’s FFS! :-D
Yes, I have had many dreams with people I didn’t know. All sorts of situations. Occasionally celebrities.
When I have dreams with people I do know in them, sometimes those people change who they are, or combine aspects of different people into one dream character.
Most often I dream about people I know, like classmates, coworkers, friends and family.
People I don’t know at all show up in my dreams once in a while, but they’re not strangers in the dream.
I’ve had a few dreams about celebrities, and they usually end up at least a little amorous :)
Now I’m almost always dreaming about people I know in my real life, probably because I see most of them for hours each day and they’re ground into my subconscious. I remember a particularly horrible one where one of the people had died some awful way…
Sometimes I hate my dreams because most of them are way too real, sometimes more real than life even when I’m fully awake. I woke up on the verge of tears after that one, because I thought they were really gone, then cried in relief when I began to realize they weren’t.
Now that my dog and bird have passed, I see them in my dreams all the time.
But I remember two very vivid things from when I was a little kid where I didn’t know the people:
One was a hugely elaborate dream that started out with me being shot, and then I wake up as a ghost and meet a bunch of other kid-ghosts that I didn’t know before. It was so weird, though, because I thought I really had died. I still remember weaking up and just laying in bed for the longest time trying to understand how I was suddenly alive “again”, and actually wondering about all those other “kids”.
The other is a dream-friend girl, Katie, and in my dreams we were best friends. She visited often enough that she started feeling real, and I’d wonder where she was when I was awake. I can still see her face, and it’s of no one I’ve ever met. And then one day she was gone and I haven’t seen her since.
I have had dreams about people I have never met or seen before. As for celebrities,I dreamt that I slept with John Goodman ;)
No, my dreams take the form of stories that should be written down and published the way many other fiction writers do.
@YARNLADY many of my dreams are like that. They have actual plot! Okay it’s bad plot but that’s nothing new when it comes to my writing.
