Just curious. I was actually accused of trolling in my first question.

Trolling is a rarity here at Fluther. The mods keep it real clean and block out any bad responses and users.
You do see it, but, thanks to the mods it doesn’t last long.
I see very few.
BTW….y’all wanna buy a watch? CHEAPCHEAPCHEAP!!!!
Gosh I hope not. that’s not why I came here. It seems to be pretty troll free from what I’ve seen.
I have no clue how frequent trolls are on Fluther. Fellow Jellies and the moderators seem to nip them in the bud with lightening speed. It’s to the point where it has become a personal badge of honor to find one before they get booted from the site.
Yeah…as @Pied_Pfeffer said – we are protective of our community. Sometimes we can get overprotective, and if the accusation was a result of that, know that it came from a good place.
Well, assume that it came from a good place until proven otherwise.
sex questions, as I’m sure you know, are often the product of the juvenile disruptive troll.
Someone that keeps advertising wedding dresses has been the most recent that I’ve seen. I flagged them and the mods were on it fast.
I’ve only seen about one troll here and he’s gone.
However, this thread seems to have brought out some mock spammers. ;-)
I just flagged a question that asked for ideas for their website. They put the website right in the question title.
Speaking of trolls. anyone in here been here long enough to remember the troll who must not be named :P
I wish we had a page with posts by trollers, so I could see some examples. I don’t really think I know what it is.
@wundayatta Next one I see, I will copy and paste in your pm.
@wundayatta
Trolling is purposefully acting ignorant or hostile in order to incite anger or frustration in other users.
Yeah, for prime examples check out the comments on Digg.com
I’ve seen a spammer or two (they didn’t last long) but never a troll.
As a mod, I get a sort of top-down view on Fluther shenanigans.
That said, I see a lot more spammers than trolls, though trolls are definitely out there (and quickly dealt with).
There are a few tenacious trolls who continually come back after being banned several times… Windsuit fetish guy, the guy who really wants nice people to help him remember 1994 or 1991 or whatever, and various incarnations of previously banned members who for whatever reason think that Fluther is serious business enough to warrant coming back to over and over and over again to seek some kind of vengeance for being banned.
The spammers are usually more entertaining. Especially when they use huge amounts of “Engrish” in their posts. Like “where buy you quality replica handbags? Wonderful. I know you love it. Good prices for you.”
@wundayatta You want to know what a troll is just go to YouTube. There are more there than any other website I’ve ever seen. Trolls will generally take issue off topic just to start an argument or to name call/harrass other people.
I love our Mods. I feel so safe!
Yahoo Answers is the place for the best troll posts. The LGBT section is priceless. :-D
No, as you could see when you were asked about your questionable question, they are weeded out immediately.
Only when folks refuse to see the correlation between Osama Bin Laden and Santa clause.
WAKE UP FUCKERS!!!
Personally, I like the spammers that ask a question like “Where I buy quality handbag?” and the first (usually only) response is by the same user saying “Quality good handbags goten at www.whatever.com"
Not too obvious.
@mrentropy : I can’t believe I actually clicked on your link. XP
@JilltheTooth Odd. I can’t believe it showed up as a link because I didn’t want it to. Did you find a quality good handbag there?
@mrentropy : Did you click your link? It actually gives some choices… Now where can I get matching shoes?
@Blondesjon I’d love to wake up, but, unfortunately, I don’t fit in the category of person who you are talking to. But enough about my personal life. as if
But even if I’m not one of the folks you’re talking to, I’d still like to hear more about Osama bin Santa Claus. Is this a kind of peace thingy? Muslims and Christians doing the nasty? And gay, at that? Oh my. I can see the helicopters hovering now.
Alas, I must move on. Cheerio!
WILL TROLL FOR FOOD.
Just saying.
@seazen better than “Will be food for Troll”
It can’t be that bad, since the ones that came to mind were the exact same ones that @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard listed. I guess if we can actually remember the specific trolls… there can’t be too many of them. Just a theory. ha.
It’s more difficult to find a troll on Fluther than to find a four-leaf clover in a large meadow.
@mattbrowne, and just like four leaf clovers, they are flattened when they eventually are found.
I am now picturing @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard in a secret place somewhere, looking through a book where past Fluther trolls are carefully pressed between the pages…
@iamthemob : There’s a visual I’ll carry around today! :-P
I want that book. Make it so.

I would say the mods get it way, way more than they don’t (most whatever “it” is). ;-)

The mods are incredibly fast! Now I check to see if a user still exists before I flag…wow
