Have you ever purchased anything from QVC or Home Shopping Network, and if so, was the experience addictive?

Asked by jca (36062points) November 17th, 2010

Sometimes (not often, but occasionally) I will put on QVC to see what they’re selling. Sometimes (again, not often but occasionally) I see something that is very tempting to purchase. I am afraid to buy something from them because I’m afraid I will become addicted, that it will be too easy and I will do it again and again.

Have you ever purchased anything from these home shopping channels and if so, did it become a habit for you?

Yes and yes. It was a habit for the first year or two; I enjoyed it. But now I rarely buy anything. I actually bought more from HSN.

My husband buys from QVC often but only after researching reviews to see if it’s worth it.

I am proud to report that I have not.
I do not trust them.
They are without honour.

@ragingloli Without honor? At least they enclose a sticky SASE label for all returns. And comments on products are listed on their website.

Not QVC but I did shop HSN online for some silk dresses a decade ago. I grew addicted to the feature that let you make a clothes model of yourself based on height, weight, frame, etc. and you could try the clothes on it. It was eerie but fun!

My mother watched QVC religiously, and bought all kinds of stuff from them. This was 10 years ago. Some of it was junk, but most of the things she got were very nice. If she didn’t like something, she just returned it… no problems. She was kind of addicted (more so to watching than buying), but then again she was a homemaker and the TV kept her company.
