Are boneless skinless chicken thighs as lean as boneless skinless breast?

Asked by JustJessica (4054points) November 18th, 2010

I don’t really like the breast of the chicken, it tends to be dry and flavorless, so I tend to use the thigh a lot in my cooking. I prefer boneless, skinless, are they as lean as the breast?

Not quite, but if you’re removing the skin they’re pretty lean.

All I can say is the thighs are probably jucier. I’ve never been able to get the breasts to be edible.

@Aster I totally agree… Gotta love that dark meat!!

I think the dark meat would have more calories in it because it does contain more moisture and therefore more fat. I don’t like the white meat either.

Dark meat is less lean than white, but it is insignificant.

If you cook it in a sauce of some type the breast come out really well. Not dry at all. If the sauce doesn’t have a lot of fat you get the juiciness without the extra calories.

Well , maybe if you hammer it with a mallet and soak it in cream of something soup it would be ok. All meat is better with bone-in, though, esp pork chops. (;
