How to get radio sound clips?
I’m doing this project that explores the relationship between radio and politics in Angola, both during the time of the revolution and in present day.
Part of this project involves the usage of clips from the modern day station, “Radio Despertar”. I am particularly interested in the broadcasts of Alberto Chakusanga, who was assassinated in September of this year.
The problem is, I have no idea how to access this source on the web. I’ve found some sites that look promising, but once I navigate to them, they freak out…also, many of them are in Portuguese, which I unfortunately do not speak.
Is there anyone out there in the Fluther community who can help, pretty please?

I’m just taking a shot at this question, hopefully something will lead you in the right direction. The first thing I found was a site from the University of Newcastle, Australia cultural collections which can be seen here You might be able to contact them to see how they came about their own collection of radio broadcasts.
Or contact the Museum of Broadcasting here to see if they can direct you.
Or try contacting someone at Public Radio International here
Here’s a site called Radio Locator which finds radio stations throughout the world. If you can find the radio station itself, you may be able to contact them directly here
And something similar called Radio Station World here
Hopefully somebody at one of these sites might be able to help you. Good luck!
I typed this “index of” + “mp3″ + “angola” -html -htm -php into google found a load of stuff for you to search through.
Try it out, you never know.
Funny this question should come up now. I was playing with a demo of a program that I might buy because it was so handy for exactly this purpose.
Take a look at Applian Director, which includes a module for recording audio from the web. If you can find the radio clips you like, then this program will enable you to record them (and presumably to edit them as well, but I haven’t tried that).
