Once the "Edit your question/answer" is gone, then there is no way you can correct mistakes, right?

Is there no way at all to go back and do some fixing? I mean you had your chance and that was that, right?

Pretty much. You could ask a mod to push a question back to editing so you could fix it, but I don’t know if they will do that all the time or only if it’s for certain reasons. For answers, you’re pretty much stuck once the option to edit is gone.
@ZEPHYRA – I saw your question to the Mods and I wanted to reply to you so you weren’t kept waiting, but I am a relatively new Mod and I didn’t feel entirely confident about my answer. I didn’t want to tell you one thing and have it be wrong.
My understanding is once the editing window is gone, that’s it. I think there are some very occasional exceptions, but I couldn’t tell you off-hand what or why.
Perhaps a mod can directly edit an answer or a question after that option is gone, but I’m not sure.
When I’ve been desperate because I’d made a mistake that was just too stupid for words, I have begged a mod to let me edit it, and someone has always been kind enough to help me out.
The way to do this is to flag your own question and then fill in the explanatory box.
I don’t do this very often. Most of my stupid mistakes get to stay right where I left them.
@Brian1946 – Just for informational purposes, Mods can’t edit posts. Only the bigger cheeses can do that, like @augustlan and higher on the food chain.
If it’s a question, flag it and we’ll generally send it back (so long as you’re not changing it substantially… we wouldn’t want the answers it’s already received to be completely nonsensical). If it’s an answer, you can PM me and I can fix it for you. (Again, we’re talking typos, not changing the substance.)
@augustlan has been very patient with me when I’ve typoed on party questions, I misspelled MattBrowne’s name, for God’s sake! so she’d probably help you out, cuz she’s a good mommy. I still owe her a month of dishwashing for correcting another one in a party question!
